Reviews for Prezzo
Love this place as it offers much better Italian food than most chain restaurants, there are daily specials and it's family friendly.
It offer a children's menu, activity packs and has safe and reliable highchairs - which can sadly be a rarity in many eateries. And the staff at the Reading branch don't seem to mind that toddlers make mess.
The main toilets are downstairs in the musty basement but there is a larger lavatory for wheelchair users on the ground floor - although the last time we visited they were not letting people use it and it had sadly become little more than a storage cupboard.
Service can be slow in this branch but the food is great. I particularly love the risottos but fellow diners have told me that the seafood dishes and salads are delicious too.
Prezzo is my favourite Italian restaurant in Reading and a great location for lunch with girlfriends, a group outing or a romantic dinner.
The ambience is relaxed - the kind of place you can sit and catch up with friends for hours without feeling hurried by staff. It does tend to be busy on weekday lunchtimes but I’ve eaten there in an office lunch hour and not had to rush.
The food is good and considerably better than other, more expensive chains locally. A three-course dinner for two will come in at under £50 and they do a lunchtime menu for under a tenner. The pane con cipolla (pizza base with yummy balsamic onion and mozzarella) works very well as a side dish and the stuffed mushrooms are a fantastic starter.
Tasty and a bargain.
This is a favourite restaurant for a friend and I, and whilst we were at separate universities, it was without thinking the place we always arranged to meet for a catch up during holidays, and that has continued now we have graduated.
The food is lovely, reasonably priced and in our opinion nicer than a lot of other Italian chain restaurants. The service in this particular restaurant is exceptional - the staff are all polite and friendly, and generally make it a lovely experience. We had one potentially bad experience where their air conditioning was broken and leaking all over the floor, and we were instantly moved to a different table and offered free drinks to make up for the problem - working in customer service ourselves, we were happy!
Would definitely recommend to anyone - they have ample seating for couples, small groups and large groups, and I don't think we've ever had to wait for a table, which is refreshing!
Excellent chain restaurant with a good range of dishes.
Good standard Italian food that you'd expect from a chain, but with a little more flair and quality. The dining room is broken up into lots of smaller rooms which gives it a more intimate feel and also keeps the noise down.
Particularly recommend starting with the pane con cipolla - pizza base with red onions and mozzarella. The dauphinois potatoes that come as a side dish are scrummy. The creamy pastas are tasty and indulgent.
Desserts are probably all out of a packet but they are pretty good, although they tend to be dressed with too many zig zag sauces or dusted with sugar, where it's just not needed.
Service is smooth and efficient, though if you're tucked away from the main room, you can get a little forgotten.
Good for a cheap eat or a reasonably organised group meal.
