Located next door to the Reading International Solidarity Centre (RISC) shop which sells fairtrade goods, the Global cafe also shares its ethical standards.
The Global cafe serves an excellent array of beers, and I highly recommend the apple juice made by a local supplier.
They also serve food and I recommend the Ethiopian food served in the evenings – particularly Thursdays when they serve an all you can eat buffet for £8.50. The friendly staff were helpful in suggesting dishes, combinations and general help for sampling Ethiopian food (a cuisine I’d not tried before).
The whole ethical and green vibe is sustained throughout the cafe– even some of the food is grown on the roof garden.
The global cafe has many adverts and posters for activities (yoga, films, live music) happening in the cafe or its function rooms upstairs.
