Reviews for Moka Cafe
Can't believe there are that many cafes in Preston where you actually have to wait in a queue for a table....... Once we were sat down (6 of us, celebrating a Hen Weekend on an average Friday lunchtime), it took an age for someone to come and take our drinks order. We asked for a bottle of the "house bubbly" (seeing as we were celebrating) and obviously the fact we weren't ordering the most expensive wine on the menu meant we deserved another 15 min wait for our plonk.......
The food was very nice as a lunchtime selection, but I agree with previous comments that it's overpriced for what it basically it - over £6 for a cheese and ham toastie (admittedly, the ham was very good, cut off the bone stuff) but even so.....
Considering we were spending probably a lot more than their average lunchtime order (teacake and a cup of coffee), we felt the service was under par and the staff seemed harassed and disinterested. Shame, because the food is good.
excellent place to eat and drink, highly recommended
This place thinks its better than it is and the prices are too high for the quality, which is inconsistent. London prices for Preston, you have to be joking.
I had an unfortunate visit where the waitress spilt a drink over my niece - she apologised, but there was no attempt to offer recompense.
Now here is a place you should visit. I went there when they first opened and were unlicenced. What a unique idea to get round this by offering a free bottle of wine with the meal. it made me feel like I was getting something for nothing. not sure whether this still applies but I think there is some sort of similar offer on at the moment. The food it just what I like mediterranean style. the pizzas are excellent and the sweets are superb. Its a nice setting both inside and out where you can have a coffee and watch the peole go by shopping inthe centre. There is plenty of room for parties large or small and you are bound to have a good time. The staff are excellent so give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
this is more than a basic cafe, the menu is more stilton broccali soup than chips and gravy. The quiche is gorgeous and the desserts are delightful. There are two floors which each have posh glass tables and leather chairs. The menu is pricy in preston terms so dont come here if on a budget go a little further down the road to greggs! The broccali and stilton soup is marvelous and is my favourite thing on the menu. Leave room for dessert though as they are posh ones, more the sort you would see in a french cafe. The atmosphere is calming and the music is relaxed and chilled. Often to be heard is bosa nova like bibel gilberto. This is the place to go to chat over a long lunch.
Not quite your average greasy spoon by any stretch of the imagination. Set over two floors with a varied menu this is a very nice place to grab a bite to eat or a quick brew whilst shopping in Preston City Centre.
