I have been here quite a few times for lunch and dinner, having worked nearby. It can get busy in the evning, but at lunch - watch out - you can be the only ones in there!- Which is quite difficult if you want to have a private conversation or the like! The pizzas and pastas are fine, seem to be quite fresh. The thing with this place is that there isn't relly that much to make it stand out - it's just bog standard all the way through, same old Italian fare. If you want a normal pizza or just somewhere you know is going to be consistant, this is a good bet.

I have been to Alcatraz quite a few times now and have always enjoyed my evening there.

The first time I went was with a group of people which was great fun as the atmosphere is very lively particularly upstairs. The pizzas are excellent with a wide variety of toppings and also a great range of pasta’s. If you fancy something a bit more posh, there is a choice of mains ranging from chicken, seafood or very nice steaks. It’s up to you whether you want a reasonably priced meal or to splash out a bit. I have tried the steaks and they are very good and have always been perfectly cooked.

I particularly like the outside area with patio heaters on a nice summers evening. It makes you feel that you are on holiday. The only section I would not recommend if you are looking for a relatively quiet meal or want to hear each other is to avoid the downstairs area.

Had a lovely meal here. The interior is quite nice- not too posh but modern and clean. It has a good ambience- dim lights, background music, flowers on the table etc. It's an ideal place for a party as the menu is reasonable so not too much hassle about the bill at the end of the night. The menu is varied with a wide range of prices so you can have cheap like pizza or pasta or spend more and have a steak. The service was good- I had to send my steak back as it was overdone and the waiter was very apologetic and I had a new steak delivered quite quickly. My other half had the roast pork hock and it was amazing. It was huge and tasted delicious. All in all I would say this is a great place for families, or couples who want a reasonable meal out. We really enjoyed it and would definitely go back again.

Alcatraz in Poole, in without a shadow of doubt, the best place to get Italian food in the area.

The service is first class, staff are very polite, and seem to genuinly care about you.

The setting is nice, secluded from the main high street and next to the old town high street. There is always a nice ambience in Alcatraz.

Food is also first class, I have been eating there for probably over 15 years and to date have never had a bad experiance!

I'd particularly recommend the Antipasto to start, and literally any main course! Also, keep an eye on the specials board. The White-Bait is a fine starter.

I am by no means a Steak man, but I hear theirs is fantastic.

Another thing to remember is to ask to site either outside (weather dependant), or upstairs - downstairs isn't as good.

Pricing is also good in Alcatraz. For a couple, having a three course meal, and a bottle of wine, expect to pay about £60

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
