Reviews for Cafe Indiya
Utterly reliable Indian in what locals pretentiously like to call the "village" of Stoke. This is my place of choice for girly and work meals out mainly because the young waiters are lush! But it is the only Indian I've eaten at in the city where the dishes don't all taste the same after the first few mouthfulls. Also they don't play that old trick of serving up endless quantities of papadums to induce a raging thirst. The seating is comfy, the decoration warm and cosy and the service good. The slight frisson between some of the staff only adds to the fun. Oh and there's a small free car park nearby. Hooray!
Cafe Indiya currently offers 2 for 1 deal on 3 courses for certain days throughout the week, not including weekends.
The offer is a popular one and the restuarant is fairly busy.
My husband and I have visited the restuarant on several occasions and always had a good meal. This 2 for 1 deal is good value. Last night we had 3 courses each plus 2 beers each for £36.
Starters are a mix of traditional indian with a few modern twists. The king prawns were delicious and the sauces were not too spicy and full of fresh herbs and spices. Good portion size.
Main courses again - a good choice of meats, fish and a few vegetarian options. Portions of rice were quite small but the large portions of meat or fish make up for this. Nan breads are large and fresh. Delicious.
Desserts -a real disspointment. We were not expecting haute cuisine but the ice cream tasted like 1970's artic roll!! For £3.50 - £4 we felt these were awful and they need to re-think what they offer.
Overall though - good value, nice atmosphere with friendly, efficient service.
