    Good location, not so good inside

    The China house (owned by the same people as the jack rabbit in Derriford) when you arrive looks like somewhere you can enjoy, a recently refurbished traditional style public house located on the waterside overlooking Plymouths historic Barbican area. The staff are pretty polite and friendly – but sometimes seem a little stretched and good service suffers when this happens. This always seems to happen when the sun shines as this is one of those places people flock I once waited over an hour for a burger and a mixed grill!!. You order food at the bar and then seem to meet your waiter who still seems to want a tip despite doing nothing. The food is OK but nothing special, there is plenty to chose from on the menu and the food seems to be well cooked but the portion compared to the price is rubbish.

    lovely location, food ok

    this pub is part of a chain but has quite a relaxed friendly atmoshphere.

    Food is pretty typical pub food although not last minute dishes thrown together and heated in the microwave.

    portion sizes are generous. Seating is good and you have the opportunity to sit right by the water and admire the views in summer.

    a good pub if you want to be out of town but near tourist areas.

    Sometiems good deals on wines/beers.

    Lovely location. Parking outside.

    Current
    Menu gives plenty of choice. Food fresh and well cooked and presented. Good customer service and efficient way of processing orders. Reliably consistent.
