    Ace bookstore

Borders seems to be becoming better priced than Waterstones, with friendlier staff, a really extensive range of books available, and some CDs/DVDs. There are also magazines from across the world available to purchase, and this store also accommodates a Paperchase outlet- really nice (though pricey!), premium stationery.

The staff across the store are always really helpful, really chatty.

The store is well laid out- it is very clear as to which sections I need to visit to find the books I want.

The best thing about Borders for me, though, is the late openings. These are incredibly convenient, and I have made much use of them.

    Great Book Store

Basically this is a major rival to the likes of Waterstones and personally I prefer Borders. They seem to have larger selections of books and more importantly they seem to have larger selections actually in stock and their costs are pretty reasonable.
I also like to go here with the kids because their kids selections are good. In fact they were given a booksellers retail award in 2007 for being the children’s retailer of the year.
Also when they do their weekly half price offers on certain books they tend to be on books that you may actually want rather than those by some random author that other stores may do.

good books and even better coffee.

I used to waste lots of time in this place! Such a huge range of books you can spend hours looking through all the sections. The staff are helpful, knowledgeable and available to answer any questions you have. The best bit for me was the cafe though. You can get starbucks coffee and read the store books at the same time. I didn't buy many books because each time i went in i ordered a coffee and had a nose through the ones that interested me for free. Its espcially good if you work in the centre and want a place to hang out for an hour during your lunchtime.

Best large book store in Oxfordshire

They have a great selections of magazines and especially foreign imported ones. They have a fairly good selection of books of all kind but it is not as specialised as other book shops in Oxford. The place has seats so you can start reading that book you're tempted to buy and even enjoy a coffee at Starbucks at the same time. When the weather is hot it can get stuffy though. The staff are very helpful, and they have many computer terminals to quickly find the shelf location/ordering details for that book you are looking for. Downstairs they have a great kids section suited especially for their needs so they can discover the joys of reading like you have!
