Reviews for Bangkok House
Bangkok House is located on Hythe Bridge Street in Oxford, a short walk from Gloucester Green.
It is almost worth going to the restaurant just for the table and chairs which are wooden and carved (the only downside being that it is difficult to move the weightly wooden chair once sat in it). The menu is varied and also provided a good selection for vegetarians. The food is excellent and is better than the Thai restaurants I have tried in London or elsewehere (Crazy Bear, Thai Square, Blue Elephant etc). The portion sizes are decent enough for both the starters and the main courses. The service is not as good as in the plusher Thai restaurants but am happy to forgive that for the food quality. Prices are relatively expensive for Oxford
I really liked the food here, many dishes to choose from and all of them very much full of flavour. The presentation of the food is good with the odd carrot carved into a rose. The staff were friendly and attentive but i would agree with other reviewers that they did seem to want us to run to their schedule and kept an eye on the clock. Many restaurants are like this now though when they offer two sittings per night. Make sure you book in advance, this place gets booked up quickly, especially at weekends. Its certainly worth a visit.
Good food, amount of portions for our table of 30 was not too generous though. The table was pre-booked for two hours later and the waiting staff seemed very keen to get us moving out although our bill topped over £300. SHame
Great Thai restaurant in Oxford, serves up great starters and soups. The management has changed slightly in the last 2 years and service has improved. Definately the best Thai in Oxford.
One of my favourite restaurants in Oxford. If you like Thai food then this is the place to go to. Great tasting and beautifully decorated dishes in a relaxed and friendly setting. The decoration of the place also make it special, carved wooden chairs, tables and walls.
Try the soups, they're to die for..
