Reviews for The Pink Giraffe Chinese Restaurant
I agree that the restaurant could do with a bit more room ro a few less tables crammed in the ground floor. The upstairs is quite nice and if you can reserve the window seat upstairs that was always my favourite. I used to go in on a very regular basis but after a run in with the owners brother I refused to return. However, my decision shouldn't stop others and I think for an all you can eat menu (although it may be a £1 or £2 more expensive than others) it is excellent. Unlike other "all you can eats" the food is cooked fresh to your order and is always piping hot. Can't beat the salt and pepper prawns!!
A great place for vegetarians and meat eaters to go together.
I'd love there to be more space inside the restaurant, but beyond that tiny complaint the food delicious. I'm a vegetarian and the options here are top-notch and astonishingly good. There is a veggie (yes! really!) crispy duck to die for but make sure you splurge on the double portion - it will not go to waste. The Pink Giraffe is a tiny bit more expensive than I'd like, but overall, the food is worth it, even if you are nearly rubbing elbows with the next table.
The Pink Giraffe Chinese Restaurant in Oxford serves a mixture of traditional Chinese dishes with a wide variety of vegetarian and soya meat dishes. Located in the centre of Oxford, it is a must visit after a hard days shopping and sight seeing. A minute brisk walk from Oxford's Magdalen Bridge is where The Pink Giraffe can be found, a cosy Chinese restaurant serving all the usual favourites with a twist of Japanese, Thai, Cantonese and Szechwan flavour in various dishes. A fusion of oriental taste can be found in the restaurant's menu as the chefs are from China - Hong Kong and Malaysia, where a wide range of savoury, spicy and sweet dishes have many different forms of cooking techniques.
Originally first opened in 1998, this was solely a vegetarian restaurant, hence the vegetarian giraffe's association with the naming of the restaurant, and the colour pink was relevant because it is the owners favourite colour! The Pink Giraffe was to be a destination restaurant that was truly unique where a differential Vegetarian menu was of paramount importance, as there were no restaurants that catered specifically for Vegetarians in Oxford. Since then, this Chinese restaurant has branched out into catering for other guests apart from just vegetarians and have included Meat, Fish & Poultry into the menu. The vegetarian menu not only comprises of the usual vegetable dishes, but of Soya meats too! Even if you are a meat eater, why not try out the so-called Soya Meat dishes to experience what an Emperor once savoured! The Pink Giraffe has become a favourite destination for our party bookings as vegetarians and meat eaters are equally catered for in terms of cuisine!
Apart from an extensive Chinese A La Carte menu, The Pink Giraffe also offer a wide range of drinks! Many popular Liqueurs and Spirits can be found on the drinks list with Cocktails available on certain nights of the week! A chic pink cosmopolitan to start the evening off, followed by a delicious salmon pink rose wine with dinner and finish the evening off with an orgasm cocktail... Whether it is a cosy dinner you are looking for after a day of shopping or celebrating for an occasion, The Pink Giraffe Chinese Restaurant is the place to offer a super cosy dining atmosphere with fabulous staff that are always friendly and glad to serve with an array of favourite Chinese dishes for everyone to enjoy!
