Reviews for Chapter One
For a night out with friends or for a romantic meal, this is the best place to go in the South East. You need to have deep pockets for this place, but it's worth every penny. The three course menu is priced at £30, but there are a lot of additional supplements. The wine cellar is superb, and you don't have to pay top dollar to get a bottle that is good. The waiters never seem overbearing, are friendly and are honest about the food (though they do seem to pour some of the sauces on top of your food with exaggerated flourish!) Wish they did more choices for vegetarians though.
The first of a group of "Chapter" restaurants, not a restaurant for the very hungry or poor. The prices are quite high, the wine list quite extensive but also a little over-priced.
The food though is excellent and the service good, there si always a staff who understand requests and there doesn't ever seem to be a language barrier.
Lunch menu's are more reasonably priced and one can eat in the more casual brasserie area by the bar for around £15 per head for a tasty lunch. (the risotto is divine!.
The set menu's are better value and worth looking at if you have a fixed budget.
