Reviews for The Pit & Pendulum
This bar has a pleasant atmosphere, intriguing design (esp. toilets) and polite staff. I havent tried the food yet so I will leave it at a 3.
Only problem I could find was that they close too early!!! (seriously they should get a later license)
A nice place, I enjoyed my time there (try the first deadly sin - sloth) . They serve a concoction for each of the 7
Fantastic atmosphere, a real must to visit when in Nottingham.
Great fun to see "newcomers" try to locate the toilets, (after a few beers!!!).
The Pit and Pendulum on Victoria Street, Nottingham is part of the Eerie Pub Chain. It is a very dark gothic pub that lots of alternative people visit. There are two levels to this pub. Outside are two flaming torches.
The drinks are well priced and they sell the 7 deadly sins cocktails for £4.95 or two for £6 or a pitcher for £6.66. You can get a card and every time you buy a cocktail you can get the card stamped and when you have had all seven exchange the card for a free t shirt.
They serve food which is also very fairly priced. Some of the food on the menu includes:
Nachos, Jacket Potatoes. Burgers and other normal pub food.
There are a lot of TV screens in the pub that keep replaying the same music videos and films. It is mostly rock music that is played.
There is a karaoke night every Sunday, starting at 8pm.
The toilets are hidden behind a book case which can be hard to find if you haven't been before. There are speakers in the toilets so it sounds like they start speaking to you.
I initially walked into Pit and Pendulum thinking that I was going to hate the place. Especially seeing as I am not a fan of the music that you would associate with the decor. However once I walked into Pit and Pendulum, I couldn’t help but love the place. They have a decent drinks menu at a reasonable price and the bar itself is unique. There is nothing else like it in Nottingham. The downstairs section is brilliant with plenty of seating in particular for large groups of people. The toilets are behind a bookcase which fits perfectly in with the gothic theme. Certainly a place you should try before judging it on its decor, you may be pleasantly surprised.
This pub is a really bizarre pub, it’s in the centre of Nottingham and from the outside you always wonder if it’s open, except for the flaming lanterns on the outside. When you go inside you enter a creepy feeling dark Goth theme pub. However it’s great!!!
The whole place is themed even down to the entrance to the toilets which is through a bookcase, with creepy sounds and random ghost noises in the bathroom. The range of drinks is good, with continental beers , plenty of random spirits(no pun intended) and the food is great, I recommend the spicy curly fries...
It well worth a visit even if it’s only for the one off experience.
The Pit & Pendulum certainly has something unique to offer when it comes to its décor...dark, gothic, hanging chandeliers, toilets concealed by heavy wooden doors, medieval-like furniture! I like to drink here when I’m feeling fed up with the usual light and airy chain pubs; when I want to listen to heavy, angry rock music; and when I want to drink with like-minded metal music lovers. My advice: Drink at The Pit & Pendulum wearing your darkest (preferably black), baggiest clothes, adopt a deep and tortured air, and just enjoy the unique surroundings – I can guarantee that even if you’re not into rock/metal music, you’ll at least find the furnishings a conversation point!
The Pit & Pendulum is a great place to go for an alternative night out. The drinks are great - the Seven Sins cocktails are a personal fave (especially 'Greed'), and they often have a 3 for 2 offers on these. The crowd is normally a strange mix of students, emo kids and the occassional old drunk, but somehow it works. I would say this is definitely not the place to go all dressed up - it's more of a jeans and converse kind of place, but it's still really fun. There is plenty of seating even when it gets busy which is great. The only thing to watch is the talking toilets disguised behind a wall of books (no joke), which can be really confusing when drunk!
You have to go here just to see the toilets, concealed within a bookcase. This place houses the darker side of Nottingham life, with some quality music on if you fancy a change from the usual cheese of the city.
The Pit & Pendulum is a theme pub with a difference. Owned by the Spirit Group, it's one of the last of the Eerie pubs and caters toward the.. Darker end of Nottingham's clientele. The decor is reminiscent of dungeons, it's dark and sprawling. It has two long bars (one up, one down) and the lighting is friendly toward those that prefer shadows. When your bladder is full from drinking their own blended cocktails (named after the 7 deadly sins) you can play a game of hunt the toilets (They're cunningly hidden inside a bookcase, you see). The highlight of the P&P's week has to be Rock Karaoke on Sunday nights at 8pm. Food is served nightly until 8, it's not bad quality for pub grub and it's reasonably priced. A good place to call a local if you're into wearing black.... Oh, and the jukebox isn't bad too!
