The Iron Duke is a great traditional pub that cater for real ale drinkers as well as your regular lager lovers. They have a small room with gravity ales and a wide selection to choose from. Every year they also have a mini beer festival all of their own, and if you like ale then it's something that really shouldn't be missed.

The pub itself is very spacious with many tables and a small outside area for those of you who like to smoke. It can get quite busy at times but finding a seat has never been a major problem.

I have been in on a couple of occasions when a small folk medley has been going on, not something you see too often in the city... Tuesdays I think they come down, but don't quote me on that.

The pub has a little bit of history too as they unearthed a small WW2 hideout. I'm not sure on it's exact details but they have the newspaper clipping framed above it so I think you should go and check it out yourself.

Nice and friendly staff too, I have always been served in a timely manner.

One last note, if you have an old book you will never read again bring it down to the pub, they have a book swap where you can literally swap it for another one from the shelf. Had a couple of gems from there in the past.
