Reviews for Moon On The Square
I have to say teapot is bang on when it comes to location, location, location of this place - right overlooking the market square and just by the main shopping centre, this is a great example of what Wetherspoons does well. Tasty food, decent-sized portions for the moolah and the best range of well-priced drinks anywhere.
Went in the other day for the beer and burger special. For less than a fiver you can grab yourself a beef, lamb, chicken or veggie burger, about 10 chips, and a beer or glass of wine of your choice. Assuming you're not driving that is - if so, jam a cold J20 down your throat for the same price.
I'm a big fan of this kind of place because the staff are friendly, the atmosphere is definitively laid-back - and you can down some cold ones while the missus does what she does best, shop...
I visited the Moon on the Square at the weekend with my son and partner. It was raining hard and the pub was fairly full. It is a well-located venue situated on the market square - which is the heart of Northampton Town. The atmosphere is extremely friend and the service pretty prompt. Most importantly for those of us blessed with children, the Moon on the Square is child friendly with a seated family dining area (the main bar is child-free). The menu is varied and there is a children's menu for those under the age of 12. The portions are huge - my son ordered gammon and chips - he thought it was delicious. So that's a big thumbs up from him. I thought the place could do with a bit of clean!
This is an excellent pub if you have had a hard day hitting the shops of Northampton. They have the standard 'Moons'/Weatherspoons menu, which in my opinion is a good varied manu. If you want a cheap eat but are not a fan of processed sandwhichs or fast food this is the place to go. The beer and burger offer costs around a fiver and despite its name you do not have to have a beer you can have a soft drink. The burgers are very nice and you get genorous portions of chips and salad. If you are not a burger person or just want a light lunch thier wraps, salads and sandwhichs are also good value and taste very good. Overall, like most weatherspoons pubs a nice place for a bite to eat.
The Moon on the Square is a good place to go to if you want cheap alcholol and a relaxed environment, but are not really bothered about music and dancing as there is not any music played in this pub (unless it has changed recently).
The drinks are much cheaper than the other pubs in the main street in Northampton and there are often special offers on bottled drinks too. There are loads of tables and chairs so if you want somewhere to relax with a group of friends and have a chat over a few drinks, then this is a good place to go to. It is a great place to start the night off, then you can move on into the more lively pubs further down the street as the night goes on. Even though it does not have the same atmosphere as the pubs with dancefloors and music, it still gets really busy and has a good atmosphere.
It is situated next to Chicagos night club and also near to Lava Ignite, which is another nightclub.
This is an ideal pub to go to if you are out in town on a shopping trip too, a great place to have a lunchtime drink as well as one for the evenings. I believe that they also serve food too.
