Reviews for The Prince Of Wales
The Prince of Wales is also known as The Old Wooden Dolly. This friendly local pub gives the impression that it has been here forever, but that's not the case as is located in what was formerly the office of a timber yard on the edge of the Tyne between Fish Quay and the excellent Porthole pub and Shields passenger ferry.
The beer is always in great condition and it is very reasonably priced. The interior is clean, loaded with character and pleasantly uncomfortable! Hard seats and benches are the order of the day, in what can best be described as a very traditional English pub often packed with friendly and talkative locals.
Sunday lunches are very popular here; a standard meat and two veg combo is generous in size, very reasonably priced and cooked and presented just like your granny would have done.
My favourite... the crab sarnies!! NOT to be missed.
HIGHLY recommended and well worth a detour to visit.
