Yo Sushi

Reviews for Yo Sushi

Myself and my partner visited Yo Sushi on 28th Oct 08, after visiting one in London the weekend before, we thought we would try the local restaurant.

The food we had was delicious, I love tapas and Yo Sushi suits us as you can share and have a little bit of everything, and of course sushi is very healthy too.

The only criticisms I would have are that the restaurant itself isnt very big and is full most of the time, and that because it is inside Fenwick it closes at tea time, so it is somewhere you could only go for lunch. It would be nice to see Yo Sushi open up a full sized restaurant in Newcastle.

Also although the food is delicious it is really quite expensive, we paid £30.00 for lunch for two and we were in and out in 30 minutes! Although there are a range of offers and vouchers available on their website which I did not realise at the time.

I never thought i'd eat sushi, let along enjoy it! That is the beauty of Yo Sushi - the conveyor belt system allows you to see all of the dishes in front of you, so you can decide what you would like to try and what you may actually enjoy! Much better than ordering from a menu, and much more fun! Especially if you break the conveyor like i did - whoops! They weren't happy - hence the loss of a star. Not my fault! The food is actually delicious, with the emphasis on taste rather than quantity, yet it still manages to fill you up. Prices are a little expensive for my liking, but it was a great experience for me!

This is the only Yo Sushi restaurant I've been to, but I have visited several times and have always enjoyed the experience.
Customers sit around the kitchen area almost like a bar, and a conveyor belt takes dishes past them. The dishes are colour coded according to their cost and customers take the dishes they wish to eat off the conveyor belt. Dishes can also be ordered off the menu. At the end of the meal, the waiter/waitress counts up how many of each colour dish have been eaten, and you are handed a receipt to take to the till. There is also a take-away area selling various pre-packaged boxes of sushi.
Yo Sushi is definitely more of a lunch place than for dinner. This is because it's quick service makes the dining experience feel less like a sit-down meal, and its location in the middle of a busy department store lends itself very easily to lunch in the middle of a shopping trip. It is nearly always busy, but this gives a lively, bustling atmosphere. Although there are tables accommodating more, most parties are of only 1 or 2 people.
The food is delicious. Even for those who are not inspired by the prospect of raw fish, there are enough salads, soups and non-fish sushi dishes to accommodate even the pickiest eater. There is also a wonderful selection of cakes. The service is good (you press a button to get the attention of a waiter/waitress), and it is interesting to be able to watch the dishes being prepared.
My only criticism is the price. Although the dishes themselves do not appear too expensive (ranging from £1.80 to £5), the small portions mean it is very easy to eat lots of dishes and the bill soon stacks up. Nonetheless Yo Sushi is definitely an experience not to be missed!

What a relaxing and mouthwatering lunch I had at Yo Sushi.
The choice on the conveyor belt is varied and you can also order from the menu, which arrives promtly and without any bother. Yo Sushi doesnt have to be expensive just go on a Monday or Tuesday with a half price voucher printed from Martins Money Tips. Also students get 25% off, very handy.Overall very very enjoyable experience, would go again and again but on mon or tues as it can get expensive if you go regularly.

This restaurant does sushi plates that go round conveyor belt. The plates are colour coded and easy to understand. They also have a menu which you can order from. The menu is beautifully made; every item is represented by a picture of the actual look of the food for customers who are not familiar with Japanese food. The manager is a lovely woman. She would go round and find out what you think of the food. Once when I went with a friend who was not keen of sushi, she came over and offered him a small portion of chicken curry so that he could have a taste of it.
