I went here for a birthday meal recently with my husband and our one year old daughter. We arrived quite early, about six, so it wasn't too busy. The outside seating area looked nice but we went inside as it wasn't that warm a day, (quel surprise). The inside was quite clean and smart with some interesting old photo's on the walls. We sat down and were given an activity pack for the baby, she was a bit young for it but she did enjoy messing about with the stickers anyway. I had a vegetable...

I had a vegetable risotto and some garlic bread which was quite nice. My little one also enjoyed the garlic bread, particularly as a hair conditioner! My husband really enjoyed his meal too. The service was friendly and efficient. Based on this first visit I would definitely go again.

I had Sunday lunch at Gusto on one of the rare occasions when the sun was shining. The outdoor seating area is very comfortable, there was a DJ playing a selection of music and there were umbrellas with outdoor heaters. When it got colder, I saw a family was given blankets to keep warm.

The menu of this Italian restaurant is quite extensive and there’s even a healthy menu that shows calories and detox options among many more. The food was really good, and the staff is friendly and attentive.

For desert I recommend the lemon tart – very light. And they also serve the best cappuccino I had in a long time. I’ll definitely go back there again. It’s just a shame that the pitcher and piano blocks the view to the Tyne.
