Reviews for Zizzi

Fantastic Italian food in a relaxed yet upbeat atmosphere, the restaurant is set over two floors and often caters for large office parties ensuring the atmosphere is never quite and subdued. The décor is quite unique with large squares dug into the wall and filled with logs giving a rustic feel. The kitchen is in full view of the restaurant and you can see each dish expertly prepared. The service can be slow at times due to the size of the restaurant and the fact that it is always busy but it is worth the wait and I can happily sit and chat in this anything but stuffy quiet restaurant while I wait.

We went to Zizzi recently for a 30th birthday party, and I was aprehensive beforehand as we had a party of about 30 guests - expecting the usual long waits between courses and some people finishing before others have recieved there meal. However I was pleasantly surprised, the service was excellent! They staff were very organised & efficiant when taking orders, food came to the table all together in and within a very resonable space of time for such a large group. Also plates were cleared away only when everyone was finished, and there was no feeling of being hurried along to get out and create space for them.
Food wise my calzone was top-notch, and no-one on the table had any complaints, also the price was very good for this part of Newcastle - so all in all a very sucessful visit - we will return.

We love Zizzi,s and have been a fair few times when were in newcastle. Its set on one of the oldest famous streets in town. Has always had good many people in at lunchtimes when weve went and has an open kitchen where you can watch the guys cooking up your lunch. Food is really nice especially the lovely different pastas they have, we usually have strozzapreti or however you spell it! which makes a nice change from the usual penne/rigatoni on offer in pizzerias. The sauces on offer were varied and very nice. Not as cheap as some italian restaurants but reasonably priced and different.I found it tended to attract the lunchtime buisness crowd and never saw any families or children when we were there. Def to be recommeded tho.
