Reviews for Laing Art Gallery

The Laing Art Gallery is a wonderful place to visit, for a bit of a cultural insight into the more artisitic side of Newcastle! It's free to get in and the gallery itself is full of fantastic pieces of art. The works are really accessible, even to a complete art novice like me - my partner loves art and knows a lot about it, but visiting the Laing with him, I wasn't made to feel stupid about not knowing much - the staff were all really helpful and nobody looked down on you. The gallery was full of everyday people who just fancied a bit of culture, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

For those of you more familiar with Newcastle as a weekend party capital for a good night out, there is also another side to Newcastle as a place with many venues to get a cultural or arty fix. The Laing Art Gallery is one such venue.

Tucked away less than 5 minutes from Northumberland Street, is an art gallery where you can pass the time in a peaceful environment, far from the bustle of crowds of shoppers.

The Laing has a permanent collection of art but also has exhibitions which change to add variety for those who may not have the chance to see artisits more commonly associated with galleries in London.

The Laing also has a cafe and a gift shop shop for those who want to linger and make the most of the peaceful environment.
