Reviews for Kaffeccinos

Stumbled across this on the way up from the Station on the way to uni and needed a hazelnut mocha to calm the nerves and thought this would do. What a find this will do nicely smooth velvety and dreamy. Will certainly be back to try the smoothies and wraps. Looks just like my fave place in York

Reluctantly taking a leaflet from the manager at the Monument I thought this was too good to be true but had some time to spare in between lectures so a group of us chilled and found paradise.
Milkshakes made with organic milk, better quality and half the price of other places. Rather cleverly called Shake Guevaras. I tried the mutiny on the Bounty which tasted like a choc pina colada divine!

The New Yorker wrap was so fresh and tasty it reminded me of home (not kool with just checking in at freshers!!!)

The staff were brilliant and nice with it and took the time to go through the menu to make your visit more enjoyable.

Mum always told me to check the toilets out before I ate anywhere, these are so clean and rather reassuringly I noticed something called the Heart of Newcastle Award which was given to Kaffeccinos for Excellent Food Hygiene and Healthy Menu Choices, Awarded bt the Director of Environmental Health of Newcastle Council no less and the NHS.
Quite clearly I have found my base for the next 3 years at Uni

This fantastic coffee house in Newcastle is obviously a threat to Starbucks as the previous reviews are clearly done by Starbucks at Grainger Street how crass!!!. As a true asset to Newcastle and serving the local community - they donate to cash for kids with Metro Radio (who chose them to exclusively launch their Sir Bobby Robson CD). There are 4 charity boxes on the counter, they support St Oswalds Childrens Hospice, Help for Heroes and give free coffee to emergency services or Armed Forces - UNLIKE STARBUCKS WHO CHARGED THE NEW YORK FIREFIGHTERS FOR WATER ON 9/11 AT THE TWIN TOWERS!!! Kaffeccinos are principled, ethical really nice people. The police are always talking to Bill the owner at the monument because he is such a nice guy and they regard him as a pillar of the community.
The coffee used is gorgeously made with locally sourced organic milk made with the specific blend created for The Savoy Hotel, London delivered by long serving dedicated members of staff. The food is excellent and they even do outside catering for The Salvation Army, Northumbria Police, The Bank of England, The Arts Council, Solicitors, Accountants, Architects who come back for more so they must be doing something right!!!
Keep up the good work Kaffeccinos and don't let the silly crass attempts of Starbucks undermine the fantistic stand you are taking to support local independent people

The staff here are so rude it is unbelievable.

The manager stands outside different Starbucks' in the area handing out free drink flyers that look like starbucks vouchers and so people go into Starbucks thinking thats where they get a free drink and realise they have to walk a mile down the road to cash in the voucher.

I have seen him moved on by police so many times. He stands there saying "Kaffeccinos - better than starbucks" But it really isnt.

My coffee was served with a mixture of whole milk and water because i asked for skimmed. That is not only unhygienic because that tap water is not filtered, but it is not what i asked for.

Their toilets are disgusting.
Their furniture is okay. I like that sofas.
But apart from that it is terrible.

The coffee is of a very poor quality.
I witnessed the beans begin refilled and they were dull and dusty with bits of what looked like twig debris in. They should be oily beans. That is how you know they are fresh and have been kept air tight in flight.

Overall, shockingly bad coffee, rude staff, even ruder manager who just badmouths other coffee shops instead of working on his own shop to improve it and let his improvements speak for themselves.

Never again will i go here.

At last we have the balance right a European Style classy coffee has that has excellent customer service.
The coffee is Fairtrade and gorgeous and is made with locally sourced organic milk which gives it a smooth rounded taste. I had the New Yorker Baguette amazing (the staff informed me the baguette was only baked off 15 minutes beforehand!). My other half had a coronation chicked jacket potato with side salad which she confimed was the best ever.
The customers were a mixture of suits, ladies who lunch, students and retired who were quite clearly regulars as the Manager knew most of them by name (something you never get in the big chains with their impersonal service).
A delightful gem in the heart of the city, spotlessly clean (they even have an award from the NHS and Newcastle City Council for excellent food hygiene.
All this and Fairtrade too, quite clearly a family owned independent that is showing the faceless chains how it should be done, well done!

When I first saw this coffee shop I did like the appearance from outside, however, setting foot inside it was far too crowded, tables and chairs pushed up against each other and when the shop is relatively busy manouvering from A to B is an absolute nightmare. The toilets are situated right next to the kitchen - unhygienic!

There is an open kitchen which is supposed to show the public how clean and hygienic the place is, however..I always see staff switching from taking payment at the till with (germ-corvered) cash and moving straight on to preparing food (no gloves used, no hand washing, I have witnessed this myself). Staff working on food sneezing on hands and scratching heads then continuing to prepare sandwiches etc.

Overall the prices of the drinks and food available here are ridiculous. I paid £1.80 for an average sized muffin which was frozen in the centre, obviously purchased weeks/months ago and frozen until used (when staff claim bakery are fresh daily).

I made a point of taking notice of everything going on in this coffee house as I regularly review cafe and restaurants. I could not believe the audacity of this coffee house when I saw full fat milk being mixed up in a skimmed milk carton, partly full fat milk then topped up with water! I would definately not advise anyone to go here unless you wish to contract someone else's germs and deseases or you want to be ripped off.

I also witnessed the manager shouting very aggressively at staff, no wonder they never seem to smile.
