Reviews for The Forth Hotel
Good beers, a roof top beer garden and good staff. I love the Forth, it's just a shame that it's always a bit crowded, and half the clients are peacocks. Never before have I run across so many mullet touting, sunglasses wearing, poser indie kids. That said, I'll still stick to drinking here on a Friday night, worth it for the Archor Steam and apple white beer. Oh - great burgers too.
The Forth was one of the first pubs I came to when I visited Newcastle for the first time. It made me like the town a lot! It's a great pub with a wide variety of foreign beers and drinks, and there's always something new to try.
I think the bar itself is not very well positioned to make the most of the room there is, it can feel a bit like a waiting room in the long corridor where the bar is.
It's been beautifully redecorated, with lots of quirky things.
I always notice, whether it's busy or quiet, there's always loads of empty glasses on the bar, and spilt drinks, or the bar is just generally sticky. It makes it look untidy. The staff are nice, but I've noticed them drinking behind the bar which doesn't look very professional, and means they're slower to serve people. But, to be fair you don't go to a bar to judge that, so for the drinks and the beautiful pub, and the location, it's a great place to go!
Great little bar which, as well as being an excellent night time venue or place to start the evening before heading on to a club, also does fantastic pub food. Enough vegetarian options to keep the fussy happy as well as a great selection of classic meaty dishes. the forth is easy to spot – look out for the red front and people spilling out the doors. It does get VERY busy and this is the only down side in my opinion. my brother first introduced me to this place and now I love it too! It has got great atmosphere and is very pleasant inside too. Recommended!
i always have a good night when I go here. Recently refurbished, but unlike many refurbishments, The Forth has managed to keep the atmosphere.
The pub food is good value for money, and my brother claims they do the perfect pint.
What more could you ask for!!
Great little bar which has a great atmosphere and good beer, always made to seem smaller than it is because it is so popular. A kind of place that is too good for its own good, all in all a great little boozer, just wish less people thought the same as me which is a completely selfish view but one that I cant help but have. The forth is located in a side street near the station, it doesn’t benefit from people just walking past so you know it must be good when it is as busy as it is. Only downside is that the bar is narrow so probably seems busier than it actually is.
Really nice pub just halfway up pink lane from opposite the central station.
Attracts the quintessential alternative crowd in Newcastle and will always be rammed on a weekend, despite slight refurbishments to give it a little more room.
Awesome selection of drinks, and even if a little on the pricey side, always worth waiting those extra ten minutes to be served with a bottle of Anchor Steam (San Fran's finest) or Sierra Nevada (cali IPA).
Music wise the weekend dj's are always spot on, mixing in likeable indie from every era, with bits of soul, dance and funk, warming the drinkers up for clubs ahead, or maybe just popping into the beardy opulence of the jazz cafe!
Jukebox still there, haven't used it for a while, but if it still works it's got a great selection.
All in all one of Newcastles finest establishments!
