Old George Yard, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 1EZ

One of the oldest pubs in Newcastle, The Old George is split over two floors, and attracts a slightly older crowd. A good selection of wines are on offer and food is served during the day.

Reviews for The Old George

I've only visited The Old George once and I was quite impressed by the cosy, traditional feel of the pub. The bar is deceptively large, with lots of different rooms and levels. The drinks are reasonably priced and there's music playing all day. The crowd tend to be more mature but they're really friendly and welcoming. We sat up some stairs at the back of the oub, in a really cosy little spot. We loved the history of the place, with The Old George claiming to be one of the oldest pubs in Newcastle, and also claiming to be haunted! The courtyard area outside the pub is also a nice place for smokers and the bar & door staff are really friendly. My advice? Next time you are visiting the Bigg Market, take a little detour and visit The George.
