Reviews for Chill Juice and Coffee Bar
Having family in town is the reason i come so often to Morecambe, and always make sure there is time for a coffee and cake in Chill. The staff are always warm and welcoming as is the atmosphere, and the views are incredible! Make time for some of the home cooked goodies and freshly made smoothies!
Enjoy!
I recently spent several weeks in the Morecambe area and I was fortunate enough to make the Chill Juice Bar my first stop.
Walking into The Chill Bar I left the stunning views of Morecambe Bay behind me and received a warm, friendly and unpretentious welcome.
The greeting was superimposed over a gentle buzz of conversation,an appealling smell of freshly ground coffee, fresh fruit, and above all of this my senses were alerted by the tempting aroma of the freshly prepared homemade confectionary that had began to surround me.
Cakes of traditional and unique flavours,Shortbread to die for!I later learned that these were the creation and labours of the proprieters' mother.Try as I and others might... the recipes remained a firm secret.
The food, drinks and service were first class and portions very generous and at 'friendly' prices. The Bar was spotless, tasteful decor sensible and cosy furniture and the loos would take some beating for cleanliness.(a sound basis for any review)
What I assummed would be a 30 minute experience rolled into a hour and then some...people watching, the palliative effect of the water feature, useful local intelligence from the owner who spent a great deal of time helping me with information regarding the regeneration of the town.
Over the next few weeks other welcome extras became apparent lots to read, local information, good company and some of the most accomplished Jazz/Blues nights in the North West.If that was not enough one only had to gaze out of the Chill Bar windows or relax on the terrace take a sip, savour the coffee and sigh at the view.
Whether you're thinking of visiting Morecambe or a local put Chill Bar on your itinerary as a must!
I live in a large city with lots of cafes and none match up to Morecambes' Chill. This coffee house and juice bar is modern, light and spacious and very welcoming and relaxing. The staff are friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The coffees are exceptional and the little biscuits are yummy.
Produce is always fresh and worth a short wait when busy.
The hygiene standards are very high and put other eating establishments to shame.
Prices are very competitive and there is something for everyones budget.
Although a small independent cafe it can certainly match or even better some of the big high street franchises.
I would not, could not visit Morecambe without a visit to Chill.
Ignore comments about it not being in Morecambe for long. I've been coming to Chill for the last 2 years and will continue to do so as will all the other people who know a good thing when they see it.
Morecambe needs places like this. Thanks
Chill is a great place to relax, socialize and warm up!
They offer a wide range of hot beverages as well as refreshing juices and smoothies which are a particular favourite of mine. I also enjoy a lovely piece of cake which are baked by the owner's mother.
The food menu offers a healthy variety from homemade soups, sandwiches and jackets to pasta dishes. What I like about the menu is that it is slightly adapted each month i.e. different fillings and specials so you can have something different everytime you go if you want!
I enjoy visiting Chill as it really does provide everything. Delicious food, nice drinks, a cozy place to relax or meet up with friends. The staff are very warm and friendly, and have always got time to ask how you are.
A great little business, thankyou.
A great place to warm up over a cup of coffee on a cold day. The atmosphere is warm and the staff are warm and friendly.
One of the few places I feel comfortable going in on my own.
The special offers on offer are good and make it affordable to call in on a regular basis. Most of our walks tend to incorporate a visit to Chill.
Great place for locals and visitors a like.
Food - I thought the food was very acceptable and although their lunch for a £1 was a very small portion, which was clearly microwaved and tasteless, it was definately worth £1 although I would have prefered to pay £5 for a good lunch. The tea was hot but the cake I had was dry and although they said it had been made that day, I don't think it had.
Ambience - The general ambience was ok but the toilets were out of order, there were hand written tatty signs every where telling you what you could and couldn't do and it was dark and dingy.
Service - The middle aged lady on the counter who definately needs to go on a college customer service plan was very stern faced and although there wasn't anyone else in, she was cold and very un-welcoming (but not exactly rude).
I feel sorry for the owner of Chil because the place isn't that bad but I heard the counter lady say to the kitchen lady that they were quiet because of the economic climate.
Wrong, get a smile on your face, tidy the place up and serve a good lunch for £5 (not £1) and I'm sure customers will come.
Sadly, with this service, I doubt this place will be there when I next visit Morecambe.
Having moved to Morecambe in 2006 we needed somewhere where we can rely upon getting a good drink and a warm welcome. There is a good selection of drinks available served by hospitable staff in a relaxing environment at Chill Juice and Coffee bar.
Tracy offers freshly made coffee, smoothies and a selection of snacks and thankfully does not serve chips (as much as I like them). No fast food here, everything is prepared daily and made in most cases to order so a short wait may be needed. Relax and enjoy whilst Tracy and her mum (who makes excellent scones and a selection of cakes)cater to your needs.
There are excellent Jazz nights with local bands and this is a welcome addition in a struggling town.
Well done Tracy and your team in keeping going in these tough times.
As a regular i find Chill to be a great place to chill out.Great food, coffe, fresh smoothies and veg drinks.
made welcome every time.Northern hospitality is always offered by the hostess.
I am a regular visitor to Chill. The modern yet comfortable surroundings, good background music and relaxed atmosphere are just what I need at the end of a hard day. The coffee is a perfect blend not too strong or too weak. I love the homemade cakes. When I pop in for lunch, the food is served quickly and is always freshly made. The juices and smoothies are freshly made to order-great fun to watch. The homemade soups are great value and the lunches are light. The menu offers enough choice and varies from month to month, which stops me from getting bored!
I find the staff extremely helpful and polite and nothing is too much trouble. I even got a piece of cake with candles for my bithday.
Chill has a lot of customers like myself and it has become a bit of a social club.
I also make use of the bookcrossing facilities and have been to a couple of the Jazz and Blues nights.
Chill is a must to anyone visiting Morecambe.
Chill is the best juice/coffee bar in N.Lancs/S.Cumbria. Great value for food, service and ambience (totally civilised, nice clientele). A previous review refers to "plates too chilly"; our experiences so far indicate that the temp. of the plate is dependent on the food being served.
