Reviews for Wagamama
I'm not really a fan of modern eatery's, and I'm afraid wagamama is no exception. I was persuaded to go here by a friend of mine who does like this modern style of eating and I have to say I felt horribly exposed here.
The place has big plate glass windows looking out at people walking by, and everyone sits on long bench seats at communal tables that feel rather like you're back at school.
The food itself wasn't bad, lots of pasta options quite a few rice dishes and one heck of a lot of options if you're a vegetarian (my friend is so maybe this is why she likes it so much).
Something else that I didn't like was that they didn't seem to have much concept of bringing food out at the same time so that the whole party eats together. Mine and my friends were brought a few minutes apart, but I watched a much larger group of people and they seemed to all be eating virtually separately because the timing was so bad.
Overall it wasn't a very good experience for me, and one I doubt I'll choose to repeat.
Wagamama is located in the Centre:MK (known to us locals as just the shopping centre!) and is accessible from both inside and outside the centre.
Wagamama specialise in mostly noodle Japanese / Chinese dishes. The benefit of this is that it usually doesn't take long to get your food after you've ordered. There's variety in the types of noodles you can order and does cater for vegetarians as well. Chopsticks are laid out when you sit down although you can ask for a fork if you like!
Seating can be a problem at times as like all Wagamamas they try to pack as many people as possible (and there's no back support when sitting down) although on the whole I've had no problems there.
The food and can be expensive but you do get a LOT for your money when it comes to the food. I've been about 4 times and not once managed to eat a whole bowl! Drinks are also slightly higher than what you'd pay for in a bar. However cheap meals can be had if you skip a starter (trust me you will get full if you have a bowl of noodles!) and stick to the green tea (which is completely free)!
The best time to go is when there are 2 for 1 offers, this offers great value and coupons can usually be found to print off from the internet.
At first this restaurant seems kind of weird because it is a new style of eating within the UK. The seating is very communal where you basically sit on long benches around long tables.
The food is basically Chinese and Japanese styling with plenty of sushi etc. The good thing is that it is all cooked in an open planned kitchen within the restaurant, so that you can see everything being prepared before you. You can also drink as much of the green tea they offer as you like.
Value is great overall but it is even better value when you look out for the special promotional deals like 2 for 1 offers that they do every so often.
Wagamama offers an exciting array of eastern cuisine. The menu is somewhat bewildering initially, but the staff are friendly and helpful and will explain all the different types of dishes, noodles and other ingredients. The food comes quickly to your table, though as it is brought as soon as ready it is likely your party will start eating at different times. It certainly tastes very fresh, nutritious and authentic. There are dishes to suit different palettes, from the very spicy to mild, from noodle soups to rice dishes. It is also an excellent place to visit for vegetarian food offering a lot of tasty choices.
It is perhaps a little more expensive than other high street eateries but offers something really different and exciting.
