The refurbishment hasn't made this place feel any different. It still has the 70s disco bit and the french bit and the dance music bit.

It's expensive to get in and the drinks aren't cheap either. The big downside is that you have to spend ages waiting to be served.

There also isn't a very friendly atmosphere there - just take a look at the pile of people outside at the taxi rank at the end of the night - you might also want to invest in some riot gear to fight...

It's expensive to get in and the drinks aren't cheap either. The big downside is that you have to spend ages waiting to be served.

There also isn't a very friendly atmosphere there - just take a look at the pile of people outside at the taxi rank at the end of the night - you might also want to invest in some riot gear to fight your way into a taxi at 2am! You're tired. You just want to get home and eat a pizza. you've stood in a queue for ages and then a bunch of girls aloud wannabes push straight in. confront them and DIE!

I reckon the best club in MK is Pink Punters - yes it's a gay bar (if that's a worry for you) but eveyone's welcome and the music and crowd is better and you can get a drink within 5 mins! Loads of people of all sexual preferences go there.

I've had so many great nights out at Oceana. I'm an out of towner and only come here when I'm visiting my best friend in Milton Keynes. However, a night out here is always the cherry on the cake. I can dance hours away in the New York disco room. The music is great, the dancefloor energetic (and multicoloured!!!) and the whole atmosphere really high spirited. I love it!! ;0) My experiences of Oceana have always been good fun and have avoided that 'meat market' feel of other clubs I've visited. The crowd are always up for a laugh and I've found people friendly and welcoming. Great places to relax and plenty of seating for when those high heels are hurting just that bit too much. Thoroughly recommend anyone try this for a great night out in MK! ;0)

Oceana is arguably THE nightclub for Milton Keynes. It contains many different themed "rooms" with the idea of hopefully keeping the punters in Oceana.

There is normally an entry fee of around £5 but this can vary depending on the night and what time you enter.

There's a cloakroom just up the first flight of stairs and seating available.

I've always found the place expensive and way over crowded although I guess this can be expected due to the popularity of the club. It has also recently been refurbished with a new "Rhythm Room".

Music varies depending on what night and what room you go in but mostly it's dance, pop and RNB. However there is now a rock music night in the "Rhythm Room" every Friday night.

Oceana is a good club for those who are young, free and single. It is always busy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, which make a good atmosphere and an excellent place to go clubbing. There is a wide range of music, from the ice house, to the disco room, which can suit all people and all moods.
It is expensive to drink there and I would certainly recommend visiting cheaper places beforehand. Entrance is usually around £5 give or take a few pounds.
It does attract a younger audience and on a Thursday night especially, this can be slightly annoying if you have grown out of the rowdy teenaged stage.
It is a good place to go to a dance and it also offers nights for those under 18, which I have heard are good (I’m too old to know!). Certainly worth the experience.

STUDENTS TO GET SNEAK PREVIEW OF £2M CLUB

A Level students are being treated to a sneak preview of Oceana’s £2m refurbishment to celebrate the wildest night in the club calendar on Thursday 14th August!

The award-winning ‘world in one night’ venue will officially open its doors to the public on Friday 22nd August, but management are rewarding local students for their hard work by throwing a huge ‘Results Day’ party ahead of the opening.

Although, the club’s new downstairs Rhythm Bar will remain closed for the grand opening, Milton Keynes revellers can expect to see a dramatic transformation throughout the nightclub, including a new style 1000 capacity Reykjavik Ice House. A Level students will be the first to see the VIP suites, VIP room as well as the new Boudoir and vodka Russia Bar.

General manager, Mark Molton said: “A Level night is the biggest night in the clubbing calendar and we wanted to give our A Level students a special reward by opening up the main club just for them. However, the main party and full unveil will take place the following week with a spectacular line up of entertainment.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased from www.tick.it. This is strictly over 18s only.

COOLEST PLACE IN TOWN SET TO GET HOTTER

The award-winning Oceana in Milton Keynes is undergoing a £2m makeover that will create a new six-room experience, which is scheduled to open Friday 22nd August 2008.

The venue’s former Ice House and Ski Lodge have been redesigned to create a new style 1000 capacity Reykjavik Ice House, which will feature a stark white interior, white leather seating areas, 360 degree video projection, a stage area and state of the art sound and lighting.

Another key feature to the new Ice House will be three luxurious VIP Suites, available for private hire for that special occasion. These exclusive suites can cater for parties of up to 20 people and they offer a private bar, leather seating, plasma TV and private waitressing, while overlooking the Icehouse dancefloor.

An entirely new addition to the three floor venue will be the private VIP room; a classy bar providing the perfect atmosphere to relax in with a glass of the club’s finest champagne. The glass-fronted area will feature complete luxury and will only be open at the manager’s discretion.

The ‘seductive’ and ’sexy’ Parisian Boudoir – one of the venue’s most popular rooms - will undergo a complete refit and relocation. The refurbishment also introduces two new destinations - a Russian themed bar and also downstairs will be the Rhythm Room. This chilled out bar will feature a live DJ, dance floor and become one of the funkiest bars in town.

General manager, Mark Molton said: “A lot of the features in the refurbishment have been created in response to customer feedback. Customers often request reserved seated areas - we will have nine booths available for reservation in the Ice House. Our VIP’s & WAG’s requested their own bar – we have designed a stunning and exclusive VIP bar. Our customers wanted to see more live personal appearances – so a stage area has been included in the design. Even the new downstairs bar has been created to give our smokers a room to party and comfortably pop out to have a cigarette.”

Work on the three-month project has already begun, however, Oceana’s New York Disco room will continue to trade as normal while the

Milton Keynes was the first Oceana to open in the UK and the brand has since developed considerably now boasting 11 across the country with a further two opening in 2008. As a vote of confidence in Milton Keynes, the management team are delighted that parent company, Luminar Leisure, are further investing to ensure Oceana remains at the forefront of design, technology and customer experience.

Mark ads: “The most important message to customers is that we’re still open and it is business as usual. This is going to be a very exciting development for Milton Keynes and with the new Icehouse we will be able bring back the days and atmosphere of a large capacity room.”
