This is the best Indian food in Manchester (well, that I've found so far ...). I've been a few times now and have always been impressed with the delicious range of meals (and the naan are the most spectacular ever!). The service is great, although they can have a habit of moving you around to accommodate others coming in to eat (if they do this they give you a discount off your meal though!).

It is super busy and difficult to get a table at times, best to book if you fancy a meal at popular times.

Ideal after a quick drink at the Lass O'Gowry ...

In my opinion, this is the best Indian restaurant in Manchester (with Akbars coming a very close second!)
The poppadoms are accompanied by a delectable-but-rather-overpriced pickle tray and there is a wide range of meat and vegetable-based starters (watch out for the chicken sheekh kebabs – very spicy!)
The choice of main dishes is extraordinary – ranging from old school favourites like Dopiaza and Madras to speciality dishes like Shahi Keema Handi - and all are cooked to a very high standard. The Naans are huge and are served on a hook in the latest fashionable style!
The service is excellent – staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The food is served (by the chef) with the minimum of waiting time.
The meal can be accompanied by draught beers – Cobra and Lal Toofan - and there is also a good choice of reasonably priced house wines.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough – the food and staff are excellent, the price is reasonable and the restaurant is vibrant. There appears to be no need to make the journey to Rusholme any more!
The only slight negative is that the place is quite small (which actually makes for a really good atmosphere) and at busy times (Fri and Sat nights) a 30min wait for a table is the norm. This is no problem though – grab a Lal Toofan from the bar, take a seat on the sofa, and wait for taste-buds to be tantalised!

BAD EXPERIENCE _ NEVER AGAIN
They park your car in public car park, mine came back with both the passenger side doors scraped. They claimed that it must have been caused by someone in the carpark although it was apparent that it had been caused by a bollard. Refused to accept that they were at fault. so a had a crap meal plus £200 excess and an increase in insurance premium. NEVER AGAIN

What can I say about East z east – well it is only the best Indian restaurant ever.

I consider myself a bit of a curry connoisseur having eaten many hundreds of currys in various restaurants and take ways across the country and have to say the first time I visited this restaurant (the Blackfriars Street one) I was totally blown away.

It was the best curry I have ever had.

Service is perfect the ambiance chilled and cool and as other reviewer said the pickle tray has to be seen to be believed even your naan breads are served on skewers!! and the hand dryers in the loos are amazing. Anyone that has already been will know what I mean!!

Even the prices are very very reasonable for a city centre restaurant.

A must for any curry fan

Hunted this place out after it became a City Life restaurant of the year and the title was certainly well deserved. Any fan of Rusholme's curry mile should give this place a try - it has all that Rusholme has to offer plus much more and the food is definately a cut above the standard Rusholme fare. You can usually tell if its going to be a good meal from the standard of the pickle tray that comes with the poppadoms and this was certainly one of the best we've had. Hard to find any fault with this at all.
