Having read what others have wrote about this lovely Italian restaurant I can only agree with them. I have been to this restaurant twice now and each occasion I have not been disappointed and so I would have to agree that it is the best Italian in Manchester. I also found that the menu is very long and there is too much choice on it, but when that is the only bad thing to say about the restaurant then it is doing everything right! The food was gorgeous, and the restaurant is a little pricey but the staff are very pleasant and helpful and I will definitely be going back very soon.

I love everything about this restaurant – it’s my favourite Italian in Manchester. The food is gorgeous, especially the fish which is brilliantly fresh and tasty. The specials are always interesting and change regularly depending on what the chefs pick up at the market that day. My only criticism is that there’s too much choice and I never know what to have.
The service is lovely too – attentive but not intrusive with really nice attention to detail. They always recognize you if you come regularly and make you feel really welcome. It can get really busy so its best to book, but if you do decide to just pop in they’re really accommodating and you can relax and have a drink at the bar if you have to wait – sometimes this is better anyway because you can try some of the olives and parmesan chunks they have there!

When one of the country's most respected and leading critics says that a restaurant in this group is 'the best Italian Restaurant outside London' it is time to take them seriously. Britain's love affair with Italian food is a cause celebre of long standing and shows no signs of waning, so it is always welcome news when somewhere like San Carlo sets out to reach for the skies.

I have read many bad reviews about this place online but I have been 3 times now and always found it brilliant - the service is friendly and professional, the wine delicious and the food totally exquisite!

I even spotten Sven GE in there once!

The menu is quite extensive so there is a lot of choice,. If anyone is vegetarian, it can be a bit frustrating trawling through 2 lines of description only then to see the word 'chicken' just as you decided thats what you wanted.
Slightly off the main road makes it a little more difficult for taxis etc than its competitor Don Giovannis but overall a brilliant evening - thoroughly recommended!!
