Reviews for 5th Avenue
I think 5th Ave is over hyped. Its an ok place to go to but i think you have to be an indie kid who just came out from college who thinks they are really into the 'scene' to actually enjoy it.
Its predictable to the degree that you can be sure that every week the DJ must tell himself "here we go again. Its time to place the old (enter old british band name here) record on again". How some people can keep going bak week after week without getting bored of it is beyond me.
As soon as you get in the music is very loud and especially as most of the music played is Indie. It is a it moshery sometimes the music but gets better towards the end. Too much head banging music all night would give you a headache lol. They do play some dance but mainly indie. Great drinks prices and entry prices. Excellent offers and at £1.50 a drink you can't complain. Not really my type of music for a night out but if you love indie and cheap drink prices then you will love it.
If you are a bit of indie fan then I imagine you have been to 5th Av before, if not then where have you been?! This is definitely one of the places to go. The drinks are incredibly cheap and they always have some sort of offer on and that’s the same for the price to get in, you can always find some kind of discount so it’s a really cheap night. It is likely to be full of students in case some of you don’t like places like this and it will always be jam packed especially at the weekends or if they have something special going on, so be willing to queue. Overall a great night out and a cheap one at that.
If you love a bit of indie then this is definitely the place to go. Grab a flyer on the way down to it and you can always get in a bit cheaper and another plus is that the drinks are always cheap too when you get inside, So if your looking for a cheap night defo go to 5th Av. It also gets really busy so expect to stand in a very long queue to get in and one your in there it will always be busy especially if you go on a Friday or Saturday night but it has to be the place to be. It is also a student hub so be prepared to be among students and have a dance to the indie and old school that will be playing all night long. I go here all the time cant get enough of it.
Great student night out in Manchester. Really cheap especially Monday to Friday, always completely rammed as a result! Get there early to get in free/get drinks vouchers, expect to queue for ages if you come a bit later. Don't wear anything you don't want to get covered in sweat and beer! Dancefloor gets very busy but if you're up for it its good fun. Music is pretty standard indie/rock, mixture of new music and old classics (they love oasis and arctic monkeys!) which is good if you are hammered. Foam parties are a great laugh as well! Watch out for the bouncers though they seem to like giving people trouble...
If you like crap chart indie, cheap drinks and snogs make your way to 5th Ave. You really can't argue with the drinks prices, but it depends what you like from your club night. It is full of lager lager lager types singing to Oasis and students throwing up in the toilets and the bouncers love a bit of power but then again, most people seem to like it. You will hear tunes from decent bands, but only the very most popular one which they'll play week in week out.
If you appreciate good alternative music then look elsewhere. If you're up for getting leathered and copping off and maybe singing along to Arctin Monkeys on the way then this is your place.
Very popular nightclub for students, drinks are cheap and the place is always packed out. They're very strict on ID and will ID everyone in the queue if they have to. Dance floor is a nightmare, expect to get shoved / pushed constantly - do not come here if you want a chilled out evening.
Foam parties are fantastic, make sure you buy your tickets in advance as it always sells out really quickly and there is a limited number of tickets available on the night. You really get your money's worth, foam is constantly sprayed onto the dance floor every 5-10 mins, expect to get very wet and messy. Set list is mostly indie with a couple of cheesy songs after 12pm (everyone is drunk by this point so nobody cares) I've heard MMMBop, Jump Around, etc. Good night out for those no older than their early twenties (and I mean very early!).
love it here. its cheap cheerful and have always had a fab time whilst there, it gets really really busy on a friday and saturday so i recommend you go early as sometimes its free before 10.30 or at least its discounted- depending on which night you go, the music ranges from good ol indie to pop to boogie to, the drinks are always really cheap and you can usually pick up a vodka and red bull for £1.30. and some bottled beers are usually on offer as well. if you like 42nd street or the venue then you will definitely enjoy this place
Cheap and cheerful. Probably the best indie night in Manchester. I prefer it here over jilly’s as the place is a bit nicer and is full of most friendly people! The drinks are quite cheap, and a double vodka and red bull is unlikely to cost you more than a couple of quid!
A Tuesday night here is quite good, and is normally a post gig club for me and my friends. Can be a big queue so where possible get there before 11 and look for people handing out flyers early in the evenings, as you can normally knock a couple of quid off the entrance fee.
It is a big old place too, so Is never THAT packed.
5th Avenue is a regular haunt for Manchester's students who are into a no-frills indie clubbing experience. The entry is cheap - I don't think I've ever paid more than £4/5 in. I believe its ladies in for free before 11pm most nights including Fridays and free entry for all before 10:30pm. The queues tend to start building at 10pm, but I feel that these queues are some of the best managed in Manchester - I don't think I've waiting more than 15 minutes to get in. Inside the music is loud and pumping from the start, favourites include classic Manchester bands (Stone Roses and Smiths etc) and they regularly play a mix of the Prodigy and Faithless at some point in the evening. The drinks are cheap too, Vodka Redbull is the most popular drink at £1 each and selected bottles of beer are £1 too.
The only problem with this club is that it's the same every time I go. Same music, same crowd. But when that's what I'm in the mood for, 5th Av always delivers!
