  this is one of my favourite places when I find myself in the northern quarter. this is a nice cosy bar with booth style seating and a relaxed and chilled out atmosphere. the range of beers is great, they aren't expensive when you consider they are premium belguim beers either. i've always god served really quicky in here even when its busy! the beer is always very cold and it reminds me of the bars abroad more than the uk kind of pubs. i've never seen any trouble here even when its packed at the weekends, one of my favourite hang outs.

  I have spent many cosy winter afternoons getting drunk on Belgian beer in this bar. I'd say that was the best time to visit Cord as on a Friday or Saturday night you'll struggle for a seat or end up squashed in a booth full of strangers. Cord has a great variety at the bar, especially of beers. The music is always good and it's been host to a range of great music nights, including B-Music. There was one incident where the bar served us then the bouncers emptied the bar straight away, not giving anyone time to drink up. But that's the only unpleasant experience I've had in this gret bar.

  Not as retro as it sounds...

  'Cord'...a word that can conjure up disturbing memories of seventies outfits or take you back to the attire of your student days. True, cord bar is in fact decked out in tasteful brown cord throughout, but the place is pretty hip and offers a great atmosphere for meeting up with friends, tucked away in Manchester's northern quarter. A good choice of drinks at the bar is coupled with a well-stocked juke box, which allows regulars to store their favourite tunes and often plays music from up and coming Manchester bands. Seating is arranged into booths for a more intimate feel, although this ain't so great if the bar is busy as you'll struggle to get a seat.
