For anyone who doesn’t know where this venue is, it is located at the end of Hyde Road, and not too far from Oxford Road. For anyone who doesn’t know where this venue is, it is located at the end of Hyde Road, and not too far from Oxford Road. As other people have already said it does look a bit grotty from the outside and it can also look a bit like that on the inside but when you don’t take any of this into consideration it is actually a really really good venue. I have been here on lots of different occasions and seen a variety of different acts, from the fratellis to Peter Kay’s tour. The upstairs is a seated area which gives you a great view of the acts on the stage, plus the seats are pretty comfy too. The sound isn’t the best but the atmosphere makes up for this.

From appearance the Apollo looks like it’s an unused building but in fact it’s quite a good little venue. Once your inside I’m afraid the appearance doesn’t improve as it’s quite shabby and could do with a makeover, which I don’t think there willing to do quite soon. There is a lower floor which is used for standing and can get a little rowdy near the front depending who’s playing that it. Then upstairs are all the seating areas which are nice and comfy and provides a great view of the stage. The acoustics I always find are better upstairs than down and alcoholic beverages are reasonably priced.

An average venue for music gigs / concerts. I have to disagree with previous comments about the sound being good. On multiple occasions I've found the sound muffled and I don't feel the venue has good acoustics. Parking at the venue is poor, I've paid for parking and there was a parking attendant on the car park yet I've had my car broken into and seen other instances of theft / vandalism. I understand that these acts are not the Apollo's fault but feel the venue could offer better parking facilities and security.

The exterior of Manchester Apollo is shabby, run down and can be off putting but the inside of the venue is much better! If you are at a 'standing' gig (where all chairs are removed from the ground floor) the sloping floor is great and you can position yourself to get a good view. However at a 'sitting' gig I'd recommend sitting on the second floor since the slope is greater and the downstairs end of row chairs lack a decent view.

this is an old cinema and on first sight doesn't look very appealing and infact looks a bit rough and like its in a slightly rough area. its just on the outskirts of the city centre towards gorton\belle view so you might not want to walk out there and would rather drive to a show. i however always walk and have never had any trouble, you have to bear in mind that when a gig is on alot of people walk out that way so its busy and the police are often around. its about 10 minute walk from all the pubs and bars so not far at all. the venue itself is great when you get inside. its a nice size for gigs, not to large or small. it used to get really smokey in there pre ban but now its ok. the sound has been great at all the gigs ive been to and even when i am at the front (standing) i have never been crushed.

I have been to this venue alot of times to see bands here!
Its quite a walk from piccadilly station and i find it really hard to drive there.
The parking around the venue isnt free, its about a fiver!but if you drive down the road a little, its free.
The sound in this venue is hit and miss, sometimes its really good then others its not so good!Wherever you stand in the apollo you can see the stage, its a sloping floor and theres also a sloping balcony for sitting only. This venue is farely big and the que outside can be a very long que.I do like this venue but there is others that are better in the town.

I always think the downstairs of The Apollo feels a lot like The Brixton Academy and that's probably not such an original thought. The large floor slopes towards the stage so everyone gets a good view. It's a bit rubbish if you're sat upstairs but then don't buy those tickets! the sound is good and the atmosphere is always great.

An old 1930's ABC Cinema, this is a great venue for concerts and comedy of all varieties. It has a tradition of bringing some of the biggest artistes of the day. A unique seating scheme was introduced to allow the venue to take out and put back all the chairs on a regular basis. Good view from most spots and the acoustics are spot on in this intimate venue. Approximately ¾ mile South of Piccadilly Railway / Metrolink Station.
