Reviews for Noodle Bar
If you like a restauarant or fooderie with ambience, flavour and class, go elsewhere. This place is a hurried sardine-like experience which is probably de-rigeur a la Tokyo but hideous to anyone who prefers to eat with ease and enjoyment. If you want a quick bit to eat this is the place 'cos it's cheap and quick, although extremely mediocre.
We ordered and were served within 10-14 minutes of sitting down and everything came at the same time which is loathsome. I WANT TO TASTE FLAVOURS DISTINCTLY!! Noodles are quick, easy and can be flavoursome but here they were okay but nought special. Better than McDonalds I suppose.
Probably the fastest restaurant in Maidenhead to be seated, served and pushed out the door. Although not the most of comfortable of seating, the quality and range of rice and noodle dishes sure does make up for it. Food portions are enormous considering the low cost of each dish and works out at about £10 per person including drinks. This place can get very busy due to its location but staff are very efficient and you are usually in and out within 45 minutes. If you take away your food they offer a 10% discount off your complete order including drinks.
Quick and cheap eats - exactly what it says on the tin!
Approx 2 minutes to get seated and order first drink
5 minutes until main course is ordered - another 5 until it is delivered
30 minutes to plough through the huge portions and 10 minutes to pay
If you eat quick then you can get fed easily in 20 minutes.
always popular with the young crowd and right in the centre of town
Very cheap - main course and drink for £6 or so.
choice of rice or noodles so something for everyone
This place is a good find amongst the void of interesting eateries in Maidenhead.
The service is good, food arrives quickly and is of a high standard. It's usually packed at lunch time, and often pretty busy in the evenings.
My flatmate and I started timing the minimal gap between us ordering and the plates hitting the table in front of us when we visited here. Depending on your instrument of choice, it got as low as 1.25inches of beer, or 4 minutes 17 seconds. Once I'd not even actually got my coat off because we werejoking about it so much.
Noodlebar is very simalar to lots of noodle haunts around the country, trying very hard to be the ultra-clean space-age noodle bars in Hong Kong meets the ultra-cheap noodle shops of mainland China. If you're looking for a very quick service, some tasty food and a very cheap bill,it's perfect.
As you go in your seated by a server, I always opt for the stools facing out of the window to people watch the traffic of late night Tescos goers and beer-adled lads on the way back to the train. You order from a very simple three part menu, and grab a bottled beer while you wait (briefly).
The dishes themselves aren't ever going to set the world on fire, with the exception of the dumplings. If you're a fan of potsticker, these are some of the best I've had, though they are far from traditional. The dough is that bit thicker than you would get normally, and they've been completely deep fried, rather than steamed or steamed and fried on one side. As a result they are piping hot, crispy on the outside, and full of really spicy meat or veg. I love them.
Another interesting dish I had was described as "roast pork and cabbage gravy". It's there in the photo attached, slightly out of focus. The meat was tremendous, with a crispy outside, not unlike slices of char sui.
All in all, its quick, very very quick, the food is tasty and cheap, and I'd go every time I was passing if it wouldn't lead to a heart attack. Go for the potsticker alone.
Super-fast, fresh and plentiful oriental food in a minimalist dining environment. Love this place! It's near the cinema and loads of bars, also just a minute walk from the multi-story car park. Great value and really good food.
It can get busy and noisy, so don't expect quiet conversation.
