Let me be very clear about Jono's in Camberwell.

If you are looking for any sort of illegal narcotic, this is the place for you. If you are looking to either watch or be involved in a fight then Jono's is the place for you.

The friendly locals are normally off their heads on coke after a certain time, and while the attempt has been made to clean the place up by bringing in membership whilst restricting the opening hours (no longer 24 hrs) it has done little to detract the local drug dealers.

Normally the fights are tit for tat, so if you've missed a particular fight you can be sure to catch up on the follow up 7 nights later. You can also be assured that he on-lookers will give you a colourful account of the main event.

The pints are good it has to be said, and reasonably priced, but then again; are coke dealers, low lifes and single mothers really go pay over the odds for a pint of Carling ?

Moving on to the main purpose of the hall: Snooker. If you play during the day you're guaranteed a good game. The tables are slick and well kept. I don't play all that much myself, but it seems to be a popular place for non-gangster players. Just keep your time spent in Jonos between 9am and 6pm and you won't go too far wrong.

It's like anywhere really. A good group of decent folk, but the bad eggs destroy it for everyone else. Don't be alarmed if you see 2 girls pulling the hair out of one another over a man who really doesn't care too much for either of them. Don't be alarmed if you spot single mothers up at the bar with prams by their sides. They have to introduce their offspring to their dark seedy lives at some point. Better early than never they might think.

All in all, Jonos is what it is. It's a hot pot of all sorts, and if you can co-ordinate your timing so you don't have to be there at certain times you'll be ok. It just baffles me how the police have been so blind to this place. All it takes is a well organised under-cover job and they'd nail about 3 of Camberwells biggest coke dealers in one go - but hey, the police have shown themselves to be less than street wise over the years.

Jono's is a fairly large members-only snooker/pool club on Camberwell New Rd. There's no windows or anything to look into the place, only a door where you buzz yourself in so it's quite dodgy! Rumour has it that the local criminals hide away in there from the police until the coast is clear :s .It opens until early in the morning (or is it 24 hrs?!!) so this makes it really easy if the rumour is true!

I've been there a few times whilst very drunk with a group of friends when I was still a student and none of us are actually members but they just look angry and then mumble that we should remember to bring our 3 forms of ID with us next time :D

From what I remember, it was fairly cheap. Inside it's your usual setup of pool/snooker tables, quite dark I think. I don't remember any distinguishing features but there's always the colourful locals that provide unique, if not amusing entertainment.
