James Selby is an old-fashioned independent department store.
Whilst being somewhat restricted by the area of the shop floors, they manage to cram an amazing amount in.
Good kitchenware section, decent luggage and reasonable, if not not exceptional (and slightly generic) men's clothes. Women's clothes are reasonable (although quite light on plus sizes).
The shop has a lot of old-school local charm and the staff are very helpful - quite often we go in just to browse and have a coffee in the cafe and pick up a few extra bits of cookware. We've found quite a few surprises (and bargains) by doing that.
