Reviews for Beyond Retro
Off the beaten track, but once you find it, it's like another world. It's nice to come here with friends and try and create crazy outfits, and the more adventurous dresser will have a field day. I prefer the slightly plainer stuff, which can be hard to find, but i've managed to find a few tops here. The prices tend to be low, which is nice, and everything is nicely organised so it's easy to find things by colour and style. Haven't really interacted with staff, but the atmosphere is laid back and they sometimes have live music, which is probably a first. I would definitely recommend coming here, even if you don't buy anything, you can always get ideas for outfits and designs.
As Miffy said, Beyond Retro can be a bit hard to find but it's worth a look if you're searching for vintage fashion.
They've got a fantastic array of vintage shoes, all arranged by colour - however, it can be difficult to find a pair of shoes that are both in good condition and in your size; the most of the shoes available are size 4 which can be really frustrating if you have bigger feet!
On week-ends they have a dj playing which is a fun addition, and it can get pretty busy, with girls diving in and out of the clothing racks in search of good finds.
Unfortunately I can't remember where it is, but if you ask while you're in the shop, they have another store in the Shoreditch area which acts as their boutique where they sell their better-quality finds but the prices can be a bit much for what you're buying.
THE vintage shop of london, this is the main beyond retro though there are other near oxfod circus and various oher places. This enormous converted warehouse is the favourite of fashion magazine stylists and rich vintage fans. The dress ection is rather annoyingly organised by colour making it tricky if u want a specific style but no a specific coulor. Nonethe less the sheer volume of clothes makes up for the colour coding. whether you want a swimming costume or vintage chanel you can get it here. Row after row of interesting tshirts and stacks of sunglasses and handbags can be found. Well worth a visit if you can be bothered to find it/ get to brick lane (assuming you arent cool enough to live in shoreditch). Especially good if you want something special.
