Reviews for Budsara

'Budsara' have two branches, one in Fulham Road and one on Chiswick High Road. I have never eaten in this branch but have had food delivered a number of times.

Firstly, it is a few doors away from another good Thai restaurant called 'Boys' - which I rate slightly higher overall than 'Budsara'.
If you were going in and getting a takeaway (I am too lazy and usually just have it delivered!) the SMART option may be to get a couple of dishes from each place as they both do certain things better and have some variance in the menu.

The Fish Cakes served here are good compared to the rubbery ones at 'Boys'.
The "Phad Kra-Praow" is a nice spicy dish I usually have with Chicken.
The Green Curry is certainly good but always seems lacking in sauce and does not have the depth of flavour I crave.
The "Phad Mhee" - stir-fried egg noodles with beanspouts are done better here than in most of the chinese restaurants in the area.

Service has always been fine on the phone, from the delivery person and on the one occasion I went in for a takeaway.

RECOMMENDED!

I passed by Budsara to get a meal on my way home after some shopping. It was almost empty, with only 2 tables serving customers (a couple on each).

I am a size 8 petite female and normally do not eat much .. yet I can clearly say the portions served were ridiculous and left me very hungry. I ordered a main dish of scallops where I had to look for the scallops with a microscope among very small portion vegetables. I also ordered a soft drink and plain rice. It tasted good but the portions were more like an appetizer than a main dish.

I paid 15.5 pounds after they added the service charge and walked out extremely hungry.. It does not compare with other Thai restaurants I go to.

Certainly understood why it was empty pretty much all the time. Not worth the money. Would not go back or recommend.

There are quite a few good thai restaurants in Chiswick, but I have to admit that Budsara is the one that I frequent the most. It used to be called, simply, the Thai Kitchen, with wooden canteen style benches, but recently it had a makeover, and good job too, as it morphed from a great restaurant to a fabulous one!.

Budsara now has a very modern interior, high backed brown leather chairs, paintings of lilies on the walls, and it is adorned with beautiful thai sculputes and handicrafts.

The staff have always been very attentive and polite, and make your experience an enjoyable one.

And of course...the food! The dishes are very authentic here, and I think the lady that owns it has produced several books on thai cookery...and it shows!
I will admit, I am liable to go for my favourite dish, Pad Thai Noodles! I always have that and Thai fish cakes....hmmm I'm hungry just typing it! My boyfriend usually has the fiery jungle curry and the Massumam (sic) with potatoes and peanuts...delicious!

I would definitely recommend this initimate restaurant for a cheap romantic meal, or a good place to catch up with friends.

Budsara is a small, unassuming restaurant placed amongst a string of eateries on Chiswick High Street. After L can only waddle from work being heavily pregnant, we have been meeting at Chiswick rather than our usual mid-point of Earls Court.

We've eaten here a couple of times partially because it has not so busy so we can hear ourselves think and of course the food is good. It has been quiet when we've been but that is on a Monday or Tuesday at about 6.30pm. As it is usually a monthly catch-up with us girls we have tons to talk about so its great they don't kick you out and try to hurry you through your meal. The staff are very friendly in fact the last time we were there we must have been there for 3 hours, the last hour of which, we just talked and sipped jasmine tea.

Anyway onto the food. I'm afraid I've only picked the thai green curry with chicken with sticky rice the two times I was there. Both, in my opinion were probably the best i've had in London - very authentic- just like in thailand. The sauce was beautifully rich and thick. It was good to see thai aubergines and in there. Yum! My only grips is that the portion of rice they give is quite small but they gladly give you another scoop without chargind extra. Nice big portion of spring rolls as a starter too....

Definitely will come back here - probably when L comes back from maternity leave to give us a reason for returning to that nexk of the woods....if she ever does that is!
