Soba Noodle Bar is a chain of Japanese restaurants that serves a variety of Oriental dishes to eat in or take away. Lunch times are busy due to business lunches, but the service is fast and the food is fresh and prepared on the spot. The business clients are replaced in the early evening by the pre-club/theatre crowd. There is a spacious, friendly environment and the decor is fresh and minimal. They branch also have a private party facility for up to 15 guests.

The cooking style and ingredients are obviously Vietnamese and the restaurant is trying to imitate a Japanese menu.

The ironic thing is that it does not have soba on its menu.

I'd give the food 3 or mayb 4 stars if they market themselves as a Vietnamese noodle bar instead.

Good things to mention are the atmosphere (although they can do with a few more ambient music, the CD managed to loop within my dinner session) and the price.

Happy hour is well worth the visit

On sundays Soba do a happy hour all day and that means you only pay £4.50 for any main course. I had thick soba noodles with chicken satay and it was so yummy I could eat it all week. My boyfriend had noodles with chicken in Soba sauce which was also very good and for a pound extra he got added chicken. Our bill came to £10.50 for two. Can't say fairer than that!
