    Rude! Very Rude!

Another perfect example of why customer service matters. The ONE AND ONLY REASON I avoid Behesht is their rude and arrogant management and staff. Everything else is perfect.

In my book, they get one star. I go to restaurants to both eat AND enjoy my time.

I have to say I'm really surprised by the poor reviews this place has had as it's one of my favourite places to dine.

I must admit the service is not up to scratch but that doesn't seem to disappoint me when I go. This may be due to years of dining in Middle Eastern restaurants and not expecting much in that area. In my view the service is fair.

But the food OH the FOOD! If you want melt-in-your-mouth meat, warm, soft, straight-from-the-tafoon bread, and a good solid black tea this is the place for you. This place is definitely not for vegetarians as the specialities are grilled meats.

I think the biggest reason why we go there time and time again is because it is so well priced and the portions are so huge! I struggle to spend more than 10 for dinner there and always have to share my main course with someone.

The decor is very ethnic and traditional with persian rugs, drums, paintings, tables and chairs and some beautiful mosaics. There is a water fountain with water running along the corridor which has gold fish swimming in it. The place is always packed and there are a few dining rooms. One of the back rooms has a live parrot in it (caged of course). Avoid this room at all cost or this feathered foe will continuously repeat "Assalamu aleikum" (peace be on you) and irritate you all evening long. I think I'll order him for dinner next time!

    Behesht London - Avoid!

I went to this place for my Dad's birthday and it was a disaster. Yes, the food is good, but the service is very poor - slow, don't answer questions, have to be asked twice...
We asked for some tap water for the table and the first time was ignored, the second time we were brought a bottle of mineral water. We queried this and said that we only want tap water (i.e we don't want to pay for mineral water), and was REFUSED! I have NEVER had that in any cafe or restaurant EVER! When we asked why, we had a few different responses from different waiters but basically their excuse was: "we don't have a licence from the counil to serve tap water" - "the tap water is un-hygenic"! it's SHOCKING! Obviously it was total rubbish and simply a way for their tight, money grabbing owner to get more money from people. I had to resort to drinking a glass of ice cubes! (we asked about the ice cubes by the way, and they make them from the tap water!). It was laughable. I'm pretty sure that it is ILLEGAL to not serve tap water to guests if they request it anyway.

When we refused to pay the service charge we were then intimidated and insulted by about 3 waiters who all stood over us. All in all - I would avoid this place completely, there are far better food places on Edgware Rd.

Behesht restaurant, in keeping with tradition, is hand-painted in rich red-maroon, turquoise blue and sun gold. Greeted by an impressive waiting room, guests enter the main dining area of the restaurant, filled with the Iranian antiques and rugs and carpets.

When seated, the kitchen acts as an attraction for guests as they watch chefs prepare and bake bread in the special tanour bread oven and kebabs on the traditional grill. Enveloped by a beautiful wooden floor, tall columns and a light-blue, sculpted ceiling, the room provides a serene and intimate atmosphere. High, Gothic-style arcades create the breathtaking appearance of the terrace area. Night only enhances the effect, when chandelier and wall lights project a myriad of light shards.

The dining experience in this tastelondon restaurant is fulfilled as guests experience the cosines of the tea room while drinking authentic Iranian tea. Above the tea area and overlooking the terrace, the smokers room sets a traditional scene. It is here that guests can enjoy Iranian shisha, or the Arab traditional shisha, usually softer, as tobacco is generally mixed with honey and flavoured with either strawberry or apple.
