Reviews for Mildreds
We went to this restaurant for my birthday. On the good side, the food is nice, not exceptional but fine, though my boyfriend found his pie far too strong tasting and the staff are very attentive despite being really busy. The other side is that you cannot book, and have to wait in the corridor or bar where you are mostly in the way. However once you get your table, it is well worth it and is reasonable in price too. I didn't find that there was enough food though and that the tables are very close together. We were placed right on top off another couple.
As you enter this resturant what becomes most clear is the open and airy ambience it has, during the day time light floods in from the skylight situated near the rear of the resturant, making for a relaxed, open plan arrangement. Or you may be seated near the front of the resturant, which is also good for watching passers by. The food itself is mixed and varied; ranging from burgers and fries to mushroom pie. I opted for the latter and was nicely surprised to find fresh vegetables came with my very well done pastry pie. The price is middle of the range, and in no way prohibitively expensive. Well worth your time and money.
We went to Mildred's before going to catch a show - what a place.
The menu was extensive and the food was excellent. Real value for money as well - starter, 2 mains, 2 puds, 2 glasses of good wine and 2 beers - all for under £50.
The staff were attentive without being over-bearing and the atmosphere was great.
We went early so there wasn't a problem getting a table but the place soon filled up so I would suspect getting a table later on could mean a bit of a wait.
However, it is well worth it and you can always sit at the bar and have a drink while you are waiting!
Good place to celeb spot, as I've seen Margherita Taylor, Trigger from Only Fools & Horses and also Gina McKee.
The menu won't be a disappointment whether you're a veggie or not. Stir fry is amazingly filling and fresh. Desserts are not for the faint hearted and worth sharing.
hard to get a table but good
Great veggie eats and the room upstairs is one of the best secrets in London!
I love Mildreds.
All too often as a vegetarian you have a limited choice on menus, but here you are really spoiled for choice. I'm not vegan, but can't resist dipping into that side of the menu too. It's all delicious.
The place can get busy some evenings and on the weekend and the service could be a little faster, but it's a great little building and the staff are really friendly.
Best of all is the private room upstairs that they don't really advertise very well. It's free to book - just give them a call. I've eaten up there a few times now and you get a very personal service and if you have a group of ten or more get to sit around a massive table. Oh and there is framed Victorian pornography on the walls!
A great place to take meat-eating friends to prove that there should be more on offer than veggie burgers!
My wife's a vegetarian and so when picking a venue to meet her for a Valenine lunch I had a look for suitable veggie joints that were fairly central.

Mildreds came up and I read a few online reviews before booking a table.

It's a bit hidden away but well worth the hunt. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is simply great. A good selection including a range of hearty mains that will satisfy the keenest of carnivores like me. Value for money is also a major factor with this place as it's all very reasonably priced.

This is the ideal venue to try vegetarian food or at least vegetarian dining as you'll not be disappointed. look for the vegan (incredible but true) chocolate cheesecake by the way - it's amazing!

Following the success of the lunch I booked their private dining room for a birthday dinner later in the year and we had a great evening. Again the food was wonderful, staff friendly and it proved to be the perfect venue - particularly amusing was the victorian porn that's dotted all over the walls!

Since that dinner several guests have been back on their own and had similarly good experiences.
