Reviews for Biagio Cafe Ristorante
The creative force and driving talent behind Biagio Restaurant Group is Biagio Caroleo himself and the most important thing to Biagio is not just his success but that his customers are getting best quality Italian food, freshly prepared and served at an affordable price. Chef´s Speciality Dish: Foie de Veau Veneziana Dutch Calf´s Liver sautéed in butter, white wine and onion or simply grilled.
I'm always very sceptical of finding good food near to Leicester Square or Piccadilly unless if I'm paying extravagant prices and not feeling ripped off.
However yesterday night we needed a place to eat next to Piccadilly and ideally accepted our new TrustedPlaces Card. Biagio Piccadilly was offering us a 2 for 1 deal so we thought we'd give it a try. First impressions where bad, they have a shaddy cheap looking entrance that reeked cheap Italian restaurant for tourists. However we decided to persevere and go up to the stairs to find an interesting and trendy looking restaurants. The staff who greeted us were not only friendly so diligent. The choice of menu was good (ie not just pasta and pizza). I had for starters smoked salmon and rocket served with extra virgin olive oil and lemon which was fresh and tasty.
As main dish I had the pleasure of eating the sliced beef fillet with balsamic dressing served over a bed of rocket which was Great! As I had requested the meat came in rare and was perfectly cooked. For desert I had the Tiramissu with Amareto sauch which was really nice.
Overall we had a good experience at Biagio the food was good, the service was good, and the price was excellent as with the TrustedPlaces card we had a free main dish and entree.
So from a 1 star rated entrance Biagio goes up to 3 stars... if we had a 3.5 star rating I would have given it.
Biagio's need to buy a new front door and change the sign they have outside, cause they don't do them any justice - quite the opposite.
The place does have a commercial feel to it as you'd expect from a place so close to Picaddilly, but the friendly Italian staff help you relax. The place has three floor with slightly different decor in each.
The food was very good. My warm octopus salad was very good and not something you find often. The main dish of linguininy aragosta was quality. Not only do you get a good portion of pasta you get half the lobster too, which at £14.50 was not bad at all. Having the TrustedPlaces card was also handy as they took of one main course and a starter from the total bill. So if you find yourslef hungry around Picaddilly drop in to Biagio's and say ciao.
