Reviews for Taro

Great Japanese food, especially the gyozo and teriyaki dishes!

Went there last night. Always busy, but they feed you quickly and tables become available all the time. Great selection of japanese food. We had lovely Edamame beans, soups, some very tasty sushi (both rolled and fresh) which was well prepared - I also had Teriyaki chicken in a box with rice which was delicious albeit a little on the fatty side. We came away having eaten very well and spent £30 for two including wine and service. Service which by the way was friendly, quick and efficient – qualities which are all too often missing in restaurants these days especially ones as busy as this!

This was truly a gem i found in London. I remember at the beginning it was mainly japanese people eating there. Now the word has got out.. people are flooding in, and a second restaurant had to be open with bigger space. The ramen and rice there are beautiful, I convince my girlfriend that why eat at Wagamama when you can eat almost the same thing here and a much cheaper price.

Luv the Ramen and the Bento boxes selection...Good place for a quick Meal!
Sushi is poorly made though..dry and tasteless...the sashimi doesn't seem that fresh to me either

This is the original branch of Taro Ramen, run by the inimitable Taro-san (look for the shortish gentleman who resembles the caricature on the sign). This has been going for years now, with the originally Japanese customer base slowly giving way to a more international crowd as word has gotten out. Great ramens, decent sushi and fantastic mains (check out the beef teriyaki don, if you only have one dish) make this a surefire winner.
