Itsu is a chain of Japanese restaurants that have emerged in recent times. The interior is very designer, with conveyor belts of sushi sliding past the glass shop front and little stools to perch on. The menu is a totally original mix of Japanese and European dishes. The plates are colour coded according to price. Itsu does not take reservations, but kindly asks their guests to entertain themselves in the bar area whilst waiting for a table. This branch also provides a delivery service (minimum orders ten pounds).
Itsu, whilst a chain is a chain that is well worth taking advantage of if you are hard pressed for time and need a (sushi) pick me up.
Right in the centre of the Wharf's mall (somewhere between Wagamama's, Waitrose and an array of shopping temptations) there is a designated seating area atop some high stools perfect for people (suit) watching as they scurry on past looking stressed and in need of a Miso soup.
This particular Itsu is probably one that is best suited for a quick pit stop rather than some R&R. The location whilst great for being in the centre of the hustle and bustle of the Wharf, is not conducive to a relaxing 'dining in' experience. What is super handy about this place is its small, yet perfectly formed and extremally efficient self- sushi-service that does not deteriate despite its compact size. Every time i have taken a pit stop here the staff have been not only super friendly, but happy too. Something you won't get at the 'golden arches' (*shudder*).
So if youre in the City and in need of a fast and relatively healthy food stop Itsu is an excellent choice. I would recommend the Jasmin Tea, Edomal snaps, 'homemade' lemonade, oh and the sushi isn't bad either!
Itsu has more than one place in Canary Wharf and my favourite one is in the Jubilee Place. It's near Wagamama, so if you fancy Jap food that is not sushi go there, but if you are looking for sushi Itsu is the place to go. Prices are good if compared with the quality of the food. Portions are not huge but are definitely satisfactory. If you're not a take away person you can enjoy the stylish table area. Teas and juice are also particular and tasteful. If you like sushi and don't want to spend your salary at Ubon then Itsu is a perfect fit. Casual and with a good value for money.
Situated in the Canary Wharf complex this trendy sushi restaurant is the place to go if you are in that area. Dishes are served on a rotating belt and you just help yourself to what you want, keeping the plates so they can track how much you've eaten. The food is some of the best sushi I have had in London and certainly outside of the West End. Their hot dishes are also very tasty. I'd highly recommend this to anyone.
