Reviews for Cafe El Paso

Could do with some work inside, not really what I’d call an authentic Mexican bar/restaurant.

I guess it depends what you’re used to, I’ve been to Mexico and southern parts of America heavily populated by Latin Americans and the food doesn’t taste like this. The food tastes like it's all pre-cooked or frozen, just standard Mexican style pub food.

Staff are friendly and attentive.

El Paso has okay Mexican food-- better than most Mexican food in London, but unfortunately I'm from Texas, where good Tex-Mex is everywhere, so I was inevitably disappointed with this food. The atmosphere is again okay... I felt they were trying to make it feel a little more lively than it was. There are much more lively and better quality places to eat in Shoreditch.

That said though, it was some of the best Mexican food I've had in London and the portions were generous. The staff was average, but like I said there are better places in Shoreditch so I probably won't be going back.

While we didn't get food poisoning, we didn't have a great meal, and if that's the only positive in a dining experience then you might as well not have bothered.

It may be relatively cheap, but you could attain much the same effect by buying one of those taco kits from the supermarket and eating it in a very hot and busy room.

The food was curiously inauthentic; not very generous with the meat and extremely bland.

OK to refuel, but don't bother if you fancy real Mex/Tex.

The first great thing about this place is they serve meals right up until 12pm weekdays! Amazing for nightowls since most places in Shoreditch seem to stop serving around 9pm.

The portions are huge! Always fresh, and the service is pretty good. Quiet and cosy during the week but on Friday night it really livens up, with people stopping in before hitting the bars around the area - although it does have a pretty good bar upstairs and a kooky little one downstairs.

They serve all day breakfast and have a great happy hour, good Mexican is really hard to come by in this city, but this place does it best!! Mains about £7-£8 and Faarkin tasty!
