With the British pallet becoming more and more refined to such delights as braised otters feet and confit of toad, it’s a great pleasure to know you can still find solid Italian food, cooked with panache and care without having to worry about the sea urchin butter killing you. And it’s here: at Signor Zilli’s. It offers a great mix of classic and contemporary (all though not too contemporary) Italian food served in a traditional, smart and lively atmosphere. From the soup to the house speciality of Spaghetti Lobster, you can’t go wrong.

Leading the charge at the front of house is Nino, a Soho stalwart whose personable way and knowledge of food, wine and people lifts a good restaurant to a great restaurant. He went away for a while and the place lost its edge, but now he is back and the place is cruising at full speed again.

I ate here several times in December 2008, all my guests loved it, the food was always great, the wine excellent and the large Armegnac at the end of the meal a real treat.

Bravo. Long may it continue.

The best Italian in London by a mile! Great staff, great menu, simple food superbly cooked and a fantastic place for people watching!

Not cheap, but that keeps the tourists away - you can while away HOURS in here!!

I love this place. The food is always great, fresh and filling and it has a great ambiance about it. The staff are always friendly and as leurr says, Nino, the Head Waiter will always remember you and treat you well. It is one of the best Italians in London and a great place to people watch if you get a window seat.

Great food, great for all types of evening - romantic, with friends, with family, birthday or work party, o and great for spotting the odd celeb!

The Manager, Nino, loves his regulars.....so get down there!
