Reviews for Coq d'Argent
Paradise on top of London! I love this place! I love the food, the location, the views, the wine, the garden, the service...
I have been in the fortunate position where friends have taken me here for special celebrations so I havent been privy to the bill although I have been told that it certainly isnt cheap!
Although pricey Coq d'Argent should definitely be considered as a place to take someone special for a birthday lunch or for a relatives anniversary perhaps? It is certainly a place that I could not afford very often so is a special occasion type place that will always hold fond memories for me.
The lift that you go into go up to the restaurant is also fanatastic and the rooftop gardens are mesmerising. It certainly is one of London's hidden gems!
Little known outside the City's financial quarter, this is one of the best and most interesting restaurants in London. Accessed by discreet lifts on the ground floor of the unloved eyesore No 1 Poultry, one enters a magical rooftop garden and a calm, wide room with views over much of the City. Eyewateringly expensive and mouthwateringly good, a recent light lunch of a plate of fines de Claire and a vegetable tart washed down with a couple of glasses of house Sancerre knocked the top off £70. A dinner for two - still only drinking the house Sancerre - was £150. But after a meal, stroll outside onto the round terrace (where you can also eat among the wisteria) and through a gate, and be amazed at the view from the carefully-tended lawn and the lookout folly at the point overlooking Bank. Alternatively, just come up for a drink in the garden and watch the sun go down
Great views, expensive drinks...
Great for summer lunches. The view is fantastic and you can picnic on the lawn!!
I went for Sunday lunch last week and was very impressed. I had heard of it but never knew it was just by the Tesco's at Bank Tube station. You have to enter via a really cool elevator with a glkas ceiling.
The food was equisite and the service was amazing. A jazz band played in the background. I was a little nervous of what the bill would come to, but at £30 a head, was great value when you compared it to a curry (usually comes to £20).
I wouldn't come here everyday, but will definitely come in the summer and enjoy the gardens overlooking our great city.
What a great place! In the middle of City, you get an elevator and here you are: a fantastic terrace with nice view of the City, nice bar and excellent food!
I have been to the Coq D'Argent for both social and business drinks/dinners and even for breakfast. The place is just amazing. In the summer is excellent for a drink after work (it gets very crowded though).
If you go for dinner...well it is quite expensive but worth the money, the seafood is very good.
After living in London for 7 years, I have not found another place like this. The view is unique. You can sit on the grass lawn in the roof top garden amongst the central London rooftops overlooking the Gerkin. Everything is very pricey so not a recommended place to consume much unless someone else is paying. Great place to read the newspaper in the sun.
