How to spend all day on the loo..or die.

The kitchen is an absolute disgrace. Food left out, food half cooked and stored for "staffs" convenience. Fridge doors that were not attached, food rammed into fridges on top of each other, both raw and cooked. Digusting washup area. Staff never washing their hands. It go's on and on. I know, as I worked there for 4 nights. I have been a freelance chef for 5 years, both a qualified chef for 20.
The owner phoned me for help when she saw my add. She said her chef had left.
I SOON FOUND OUT WHY! It was so bad I told some people who were entering as I was leaving, "please don't".

    Nice night out

A nice bar/restaurant for Putney - had a sophisticated bar style going without stupidly loud music or glary decor. Overall, it was comfy, friendly and chilled out and overall quite enjoyable. The food wasn't quite up to the prices given - the lamb was nice but not outstanding, and the potatoes not quite cooked through. But at the end of the day it was only priced a couple of quid more than I thought it deserved and in all other departments it won out - the ambience was great and the service more than friendly & hospitable.

    Birthday Lunch
    Current
I searched for ages to book my girlfriend into a nice place for her Birthday lunch and came across Moomba Bar & Kitchen...from the moment Ritu called me back (within 10 minutes of emailing) I knew I had found a great place.

Prior to our arrival she was in constant contact to see if she could help in anyway....getting balloons, ordering a cake and having it made etc.

On Arrival we were seated very nicely toward the back, although it would have been marginally small for what we booked (15 people) we only had 10 which was perfect. Ritu had gone out of her way to decorate our table superbly and have some champagne on ice.

Service was quick and Ritu was there to make sure everything was going okay.

Food arrived in very good time and everyone loved the dishes (mainly a fantastic Beef Roast). Sunday Lunch menu is quite varied seemingly having an option for everyone

Ritu played the perfect host making us all feel welcome and relaxed. We will certainly be visiting this wonderful Putney Restuarant again in the very near future.

And if you're wondering who Ritu is, she is the owner ;o)

One evening we ventured to Moomba Bar & Kitchen in Putney for dinner. I had never heard of it before, but came across some favourable reviews so decided to give it a whirl. Located just off the high street, Moomba looks good, with a few tables out the front for the smokers, and a modern interior with bar area and seating split over two small sections.

It was lacking a little in atmosphere when we arrived at 7.30pm on a Friday night, but things improved as the place filled up....though the service, which started out great, went down hill fast towards the end of our meal, and it was a battle to pay the bill.

Our meal started out very promising. To start, we shared the Seared foie gras with creamy herb risotto & Madeira sauce, which was very nicely presented and tasted great. The main meals weren't quite as successful, though they were by no means bad. I had the Grilled salmon steak with stuffed spinach pancake & creamy shrimp sauce, and Alex had the Braised belly of pork stuffed with wild mushrooms, with red cabbage & potato gratin. The dishes were fine, though not to the standard of the Seared foie gras, in both taste and presentation.

We felt like something sweet to round off the meal, and ordered the Treacle Tart, and the Honeycomb ice cream. They gave us the sugar hit we were after, but were not really worth the calories.

Moomba is a nice looking place, though feels a bit more like a bar than restaurant. Perhaps next time we will come with friends, have some cocktails, and snack on Moomba mezze plate.
