Reviews for Terroirs
I love food served this way. The staff know their stuff, and are happy to guide you towards the most amazing wine as you order from one of the most fun menus I've had the pleasure of reading in quite some time!

I stumbled across this place by accident, taking a shortcut between Trafalgar Square and The Strand, and spent a very agreeable evening there with friends who were visiting London. I hadn't expected to find anywhere that offers such a warm, pleasant atmosphere and such good, hearty food and wines at such a low price so near the centre of London! Highly recommended!
I know I said i'd stop hanging out in French places. You know...spread my wings a bit and try some new things. Hungarian food or perhaps some Puerto Rican fayre? Something with hallucinogenic spices would be good.
But no. The lure of this sort of French food is just too strong! Jambon Persille, bone marrow and truffle, duck rillettes, different regional hams, aged cheeses. And that's just the stuff we didn't even get round to ordering...
We ate delicious garlic laden snails and bacon, a light (almost healthy!) smoked duck and green bean salad and squid, chickpeas and romesca sauce. The snails were just too good.
Then we moved on to pork belly with the most fantastic tarbais beans (cooked with big chunks of duck!). The piece de resistance though was the baked Vacherin de Mont d'Or with new potatoes and charcuterie. A phenomenal dish usually eaten up a mountain, but just as effective on a rainy Friday lunchtime in London. The wine list, supplied by specialist Les Caves de Pyrennes, is an uber-eclectic mix of all sorts of random French regional wines. All natural, predominantly organic or biodynamic, and none filtered or fined...think cloudy! A Grolleau from the Loire was pretty out there, but it was easily trumped by a pot (500ml) of Irouleguy. A stunning tannat wine with bags of body but total freshness and great acidity.
The service is still a bit up and down after only 3 1/2 weeks of business, but Vincent is a friendly and knowledgeable manager. The tables are too small given that the joy of it all is getting lots of small plates. But these are small things. The food and wine make the heart soar. Rather than driving all the way round France picking out all the regional classics, you only have to go as far as William IV street.
Terroirs is one of the best new openings in London in the past few months. The food is simple: tapas style portions, simply rendered, hearty flavours. It is a good idea to come mob-handed and share lots of dishes. I recommend the charcuterie, bone marrow and truffle, squid with chickpea and romesco and pork belly with tarbais beans. The wine list which majors on biodynamic wines is one of the best around. It has only been open a few weeks but this place is already buzzing,
