Reviews for Zilli Fish

nice place to be, expensive place but the quality of food tell it all

We just wandered in here on a Saturday lunchtime and had no trouble getting a table for two.

The service was great and the food was top-notch, as you would expect.

My husband started with the scallops, always his first choice if available - and he pronounced them very nicely cooked. I seem to have recently discovered an allergy to scallops, which is annoying as I love them, so I had the calamari. It's a dish which is so often cooked badly so I wanted to try it somewhere that wouldn't make the usual errors - and it was a good choice.

My husband then had the hake, which was tasty and served with a nice mixture of capers and tomatoes, while I hedged my bets as usual and plumped for a kind of sample plate with a number of different fish on it, all cooked in breadcrumbs. My one negative comment is that I thought the waiter should have told me which was which as it was brought to the table, instead of leaving me to guess (and try to remember what they all were, since the menu had of course been taken away by then). They were all nice, however. The fat chips were more like whole potatoes which had just been squared off - absolutely enormous, and very delicious, not greasy at all but nicely browned.

We couldn't manage a dessert, which is just as well since the bill was around £100 for the two courses we did have - plus three glasses of wine.

So it is not something we could afford to do on a regular basis, but if I get a windfall then I will go back (maybe next time we should try going to the casino before we eat, instead of after!)
