Reviews for Ten Ten Tei
The style is authentic and the price is right. The soba is recommended and also the tempura is excellent. The teriyaki beef was a little disappointing: the meat wasn't tender enough although the sauce was good. Sushi/nigiri is not a strong point here: the rice is sometimes too hard.
Served by Japanese waitress: helpful and with typical Japanese smile.
Larger tables are available in the basement that can accommodate a party of eight. The decors are down-to-earth Japanese which appears warm and cosy.
Authentic flavours and set meals at a great price given the quality of the food. Fantastic.
A traditionally Japanese establishment that has a cosy and warm enviroment, while being discretely hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist trail.
Once you enter you are greeted by a deceivingly small interior that also boasts a hidden downstairs eating area also. Don't be put off by the initially cramped appearance, as the wonderful atmosphere owes some of its charm to this factor. The constant buzz of a dozen different conversations mixed with the sound of the waitresses and chef going about their chores, boasts a very 'local' and laid back atmosphere that will immediately put you at ease.
The food is incredible, whether you order sushi, Tonkatsu or Tempura - it is all created to perfection and very fresh. The set meals are probably the best value, and comprise of multiple rounds of food that are very filling and well worth the cost. Prices are sensible and generally very comptetive, and better than most other places you could find.
Service is good, and the waitresses are always willing to help, despite being very busy at times. However, be warned that this restaurant can get very busy, particularly in the evenings and arriving before 7pm is advised.
From the outside it is easy to dismiss this little gem and as a result most appear to do so. But what you would be missing is in fact a diamond in the rough.
TenTenTei is one of the great Japanese restaurant available to sushi and other nippon delicacy lovers. Ideally located off Piccadily Circus, it is a great place by the food, but small by the size. You might have to wait a bit to get served if it is packed...
The food is delicious, fresh and authentic.
Price wise, you're getting a good deal, it's only a small space and you might have to queue but well worth the wait!
The food is always fresh and made as you order.
There customer service here is always excellent. The staff are very friendly and very polite. If you are unsure about any of the foods, the staff will give a good description.
The prices are reasonable and food portions are quite large.
Good value lunch set menu. Fresh food, friendly staff!
It's not fancy, but it's good. We often come here for really fresh and well prepared sushi and sashimi. We ate like kings; mixed sashimi platter, some nigiri, a couple of hand rolls, tempura, miso soup and a couple of beers for a mere £50 or so.
The decor is basic, the waiting staff courteous. They do stop serving fairly early though, maybe around 9:30 / 10pm.
I ADORE Ten Ten Tei. Although there might be a little queue, it's worth the wait.
At £15-18 the fixed dinner menus are good value. For that you get course upon course - I ordered a chicken teriyaki dinner and got sashimi, agadashi tofu, tempura, miso soup, chicken teriyaki, a huge pile of rice and some ice cream. We always order the ikura (salmon roe) and tobiko (flying fish roe) too - here at least you know it's going to be fresh.
Last time we visited, even though the restaurant was closing as we got our starters the staff told us not to rush and to take our time, so we sat and chatted while they ate their post-work dinners. There's certainly a family-run ambience to the place, and quality's assured in the fact that it's constantly packed to the rafters with Japanese punters.
