A first-rate simple French brasserie with excellent but simple food, charming and friendly service and a nice understated look. This is not the place for a cheap bite and not the place for a grand romantic dinner. It is the simple things in life, done absolutely perfectly, for a well-heeled and discerning South Kensington crowd. The women are well-dressed, but in a quiet, expensive way. There are a lot of Americans from nearby hotels, but they are not the kind that wear trainers and carry cameras. All in all, a little gem, but as expensive as gems always are.
