Reviews for Giovanni's
What you can find in this restaurant is simply something is disappearing of the earth, local restaurants which have a traditional touch, food here is amazing, and the service is italian. who ever been in italy and comes to this place...will be confused
We had a couple of excellent meals at Giovanni’s over the years. The entrance is from Goodwin’s Court, a lovely, quiet, hidden little alleyway with interesting houses, flats and offices.
Food is dependable and very well cooked. The chef has a natural talent for keeping dishes ‘light’ (saves on his olive oil bill!).
On the first visit, a veal dish stood out for the way in which it had been cooked. Far from bland or tomato heavy, Giovanni’s has an varied and authentic menu. The proprietor and his staff seem to be a closely knit team, with all the same faces still there on our second visit, a couple of years later. They run a jolly good show and prices are reasonable (for Covent Garden, anyway).
Avoid the post-theatre sitting, as the place gets really busy after the theatres in St Martin’s Lane empty out.
