Rex House, 4-12 Lower Regent Street, London, SW1Y 4PE

St Alban is the latest restaurant from Chris Corbin and Jeremy King (of Wolseley fame), serving contemporary European cuisine. The interior is very modern and as with everything these two touch, expect it to be very popular and perfectly executed.

Reviews for St Alban

I've been to St Alban a couple of times, both for the pre-theatre menu (although we always end up ordering dessert from the main menu)

The pre-theatre menu is great value for money and the food is lovely.

Special mention must go to the waiting staff who are exceptional, nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to make you feel at home - offering you papers to read while you wait for friends to arrive, finding out which show you are going to see so they can make sure you are served in plenty of time.....exceptional.

The decor is modern and interesting without being ott. I'd recommend this to anyone.

This place is a bit odd. Everyone and everything seems to be going through the motions here (apart from a maitre d who should be on the Apprentice).
The best bit is the amount of space between the tables. I guess that if it is only two thirds full on a Friday lunchtime, they can afford to do that.
For the price, the food is really quite poor. I had a 'fritto misto' to start with that was certainly the worst I have ever had in London. The main of roast pork was better but came with 4 apricot halves, and nothing else.
Not likely to revisit.

Run by the same folks as the Wolseley but a very different approach.

For lunch I had a very innovative soup of green vegetables that was really fun and tasty. The main course of mackerel was not quite as distinctive or as memorable but tasty all the same.

The restaurant has a positive, modern and trendy vibe. It was very busy when I went and I confess that I did quite like the atmosphere even though it is not really my cup of tea.

The dynamic duo behind the Wolseley have opened a new place. Super service. Buzzy atmosphere. Fascinating decor much influenced by Austin Powers. Great eclectic European food.
Be there or be square.
